I used a credit card to pay the $100 deposit for an opportunity to purchase the cybertruck. My plans changed and I am now trying to process a refund. I went to my tesla account and it seems they are asking for my bank information along with birthdate and other sensitive information. From what i read the refund should be processed back to the original form of payment. I spoke to a local tesla store employee and he thought that was how it should be refunded and he didn't know why they needed bank information. Has anyone had experience in processing the refund?

This sounds suspiciously like what happens when you get a malvertisement after Google searching for Tesla’s phone number. “They” will only ask for bank info and PII if the number you called was not Tesla but was just pretending to be. Did “they” have a South Asian accent and sound like they were in a busy call center? What number did you call?

and yes, was refunded $300 to my credit card from the duplicate reservations I made on reveal day

They sent me a cheque as my original CC had expired.
Yeah, they would need a different method to get your money back if the account connection had expired. Which it will, over time.

But so far on the forum, all in that situation have reported a check mailed to them.

The $100 deposit is handeled like an vehicle order. Log into Tesla.com, go to "orders" and cancel the order. When I did this, I got the form to transfer funds to my checking account. I, too, was concerned about disclosing this info. We have a low balance checking account we use to fund our debit card, so I used that account. I did this last night about 9 PM. The $100 was posted to the checking account this morning.

I placed this "order" more than 4 years ago using a credit card, and any info they had about that card would no longer be valid. I suspect their order system mostly handles large sums that are beter handled using bank transfers.
