Question on tax on $2500 voucher

I placed an order today (because the spare wheel and kit is back in stock) on the app, total was just under $2500 with tax. However when I check my invoice after confirmation on the tesla website i see it is about $2300 and $0 on tax. Is this correct?

You already paid tax on the vehicle, which includes the $2,500 voucher. So in my opinion the taxes have been paid. To charge tax again would be fraudulent.

Agreed, You already paid tax for the vehicle so anything you buy with the voucher will be tax free.

Interesting. Did you have a voucher or just a credit added to the account? I had the one-time use voucher for mine and that could be how they managed the tax option. I would contact them about it as long as that was the only credit in your account. If you had any referrals in there it may have applied those funds first (Guessing - Not a 100% certain).

I got my beast 9/8 and later that day I had a $2,500 credit on my account. Since this is my first ever Tesla this whole process is new to me. Did know there was a difference between a voucher and a Credit on the Account

Yes that is the email confirmation I got and yes they make you order the PowerShare package through the App. So I have to ask, are Vouchers and Account Credits the same thing just different terminology?

They are different. One is one-time one-transaction, the other is something that sits on your account balance.

However, it's apparently often confusing as people have gotten one or the other.

I wish I had known this prior, I would have added a few more things

Ok lesson learned. If you order it will give you the total + tax and once you put in your voucher, it zero's everything out but there is no total(in the app anyways) because everything is 0 and there is no mention of tax but you assume its the total that was quoted prior but its not, its the total plus zero tax.

So it seems like if you opted for the power share you get a credit on your account (taxable)and if you opted not to you get a voucher.(non taxable)
