This is the first edition of a truck by Tesla - there are bound to be some issues with the first version. Give it a few more versions and I'm sure things will get better. Any manufacturer with a first version of a new platform will have issues. If you buy a first version of a new product, you should know what you are getting into.

I do get a kick out of all the Recall news that Tesla gets when 99% are over the air updates. I don't know any other manufacturer that gets this much negative press. Especially one that is trying to make cars in the states.

He is a total tool
As is Elon.

Good thing not all trucks are work trucks. I never understood this. Unless a work truck is a truck that gets you to work lol.
Wading into these discussions is never a good idea for me because I’m definitely going to flat-out go off on somebody, but here we go.

I’m as strident in my support of Tesla as I am in my misgivings about Elon. We live in a world where everyone feels like they have to stick to assigned teams and parrot official talking points.

I find it disturbing and gross that adults on both sides can’t think for themselves, each camp convinced it’s the only one enlightened enough to understand what’s going on. When your comments are scripted by someone directing you to feel a certain way, you’re just a pawn, and in my opinion, a loser. Whether you’re calling somebody “woke” as a pejorative, believe there’s such a thing as TDS, or think everyone who has a Cybertruck is either fascist or stupid, you’re just projecting. All of you!

People fully owned by either camp are the lowest of low-information voters—cocksure of their own superiority and, generally speaking, dumb as a post. You’ve got to be dumb as a post to let someone else capture your mind and dictate your thoughts. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a born fool.

People are attacking the Cybertruck’s toughness because Elon ran his mouth about how it was an “actually” tough truck, and only the oblivious would think people aren’t going to throw that back in his face.

When you invite controversy—like slapping a bumper sticker on your car that says “hot girl coming through”—you can’t be surprised when people pull up to offer their opinion on whether they think you’re hot or not.

I watched the video—probably wouldn’t have if some of you hadn’t decided to make it a whole thing—and there’s not much the guy said about the truck that’s unfair. We know that trim pieces are falling off. That’s not great! If you want to be a loyal pet and excuse that, go right ahead. But you’re insane if you think people aren’t going to comment on it.

If there’s evidence that no sponsor stepped up and said, “I don’t wanna be associated with Tesla,” then let’s see it. Otherwise, there’s no reason to doubt the veracity of that claim. Just because some people here are ready to get in line to pick up some of Elon’s spooge and move onto the compound doesn’t mean that everyone agrees. [Yes, shots fired! I dare you to defend this nonsense!]

I don’t understand the hero worship society’s grown prone to. It’s disgusting, dumb, and very beta to me, whether directed at people in public safety, athletes, actors, politicians, or self-satisfied CEOs.

I'm pretty sure if had legitimately happened we would have heard about it here.
But we have heard about it. It just hasn’t been verified and admittedly, a lot of it looks sketchy. But Sandy Monro literally just addressed this in one of his most recent videos talking about the castings and literally saying that he wasn’t going to comment on cast aluminum for towing because he doesn’t do that. It was so subtle and such a clear signal that he did not want to wade into this controversy, but he was EXPRESSLY concerned about it for towing. If that wasn’t a wake up call to people trying to ignore that there may be a problem here then, I don’t know what to tell you.

JerryRigEverything said the exact same thing! But because he has the temerity to not bow at Elon‘s alter, we all have to dismiss his opinion because … ad hominem?

No thank you, none of you groupthink dweebs are gonna tell me how to think. The truck is great it’s not perfect and everybody who’s got a negative opinion about some aspect of it isn’t doing so it simply to spite fucking Elon Musk. Some almost certainly are but, goddamn, you guys gotta get out of these boxes that you have created for yourselves.

I can be with you up to the point of the censorship.

I don’t mind his pros and cons really at all, but my issue is feeding into the machines take on ownership statements from a product you purchase reflecting at all on you personally or your business.

It’s a cliche take, but no one is honestly going to stop buying Nike shoes or Apple iPhones just because of their companies less than moral business decisions. Why is Tesla and specifically Elon held to a higher standard?

It’s rhetorical.. it’s obviously because he’s supporting the Conservative Party now. It is what it is.
I’m pretty sure that Nike suffered one of the most widely reported boycotts in history. People do make decisions based on politics and frequently “vote with their wallets.” Nobody’s holding Elon or anyone else to a different standard freedom of speech is not freedom from the consequences of your speech.

You got 49 fucking people on this goddamn post alone talking about how they’re not gonna watch this guy’s videos anymore because they think he is too mean to Elon/Tesla.

Give me a break dude! What’s good for the goose is good for the fucking gander. Do I watch GRE For car buying advice? Of course not! Do I care what his political opinions are? No! His claim to fame is scratching a perfectly good phones and bending them to prove … what? If you put your phone and your keys into the same pocket you’re gonna get some scratches on your phone! ? NO WAY!!!!

Do our corporate overlords have a right to decide where they want their ads placed and what types of things they want to be associated with? If you really believe in freedom and understand freedom of speech, then the answer is self evident.

It’s so weird to me that the people who are always talking about freedom the most want compliance from everyone who doesn’t agree with them and freedom only for themselves. Woof. What a world.

bro you just exposed yourself and invalidated your whole post.
I was never hiding.

I said it even plainer than that at the outset:

“I’m as strident in my support of Tesla as I am in my misgivings about Elon.”

I want you fanboys to know that I’m not one of you. FOUR of the six vehicles I own are Teslas because they are fantastic cars, not because I think Elon Musk is a god among men.

I’m pretty sure you don’t understand how bias works. I’m more objective than any of the zealots in either camp - by a good measure. Your failure to grasp that serves as an indictment of your own reasoning.

And repeated by this clown, knowing it was unverified and sketchy. I said we would have heard about it if it was legitimate, and so far, after almost a year of production nothing solid and verified. Why might that be?

Well, from whistlingdiesel (bona fide ass hat) we know that he’s an idiot and that it absolutely did break. There are lots of theories why it broke (even Doug DeMuro who gave the CT a glowing review seems deeply concerned about towing and I mentioned Sandy Munro’s recent video where he tiptoe around the issue but definitely expressed concern simply from a standpoint of what cast aluminum can and can’t do). Are Doug and Sandy clowns also?

The second one we saw the photographs here (also posted and mentioned by whistlingdiesel) and I think on Reddit. Lots of speculation that that truck got rear ended and it’s not at all clear if the hitch is actually broken. The third one? I don’t think anybody knows. I remember when we were talking about the other video there was supposedly another incident involving towing if I remember correctly.

But that is allegedly three and he clearly said out of 30,000 there were reports of three. He also said that he wasn’t comfortable towing with the car based on that. I’m pretty sure he’s entitled to his opinion and if he doesn’t want to be towing with the vehicle and he’s got other options there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that choice. And he has every right to say on his show that he created that that’s how he feels. Whether he’s doing it for clout, pecuniary interest or whatever - he can do that.

You guys have your noses all bent out of shape because of a guy reporting facts. Because … he’s a libtard cuck?

I just don’t think you guys can separate your politics from … anything. It’s fine by me, you oughta just have some self-awareness.

So, tell me again, which of those are you calling legitimate? ?

Zero. I defined them all as sketchy from the outset. Further, I said those are the “alleged incidents.”
? That statement is a fact.

There are approximately three of them. ? That statement is a fact.

AND what he said is there are three out of 30,000 cars made and for him as a business owner he felt unsafe towing with the cybertruck. He’s entitled to that opinion in this country … is he not? Or is free speech only for Elon? Zero people have expressed outrage over Sandy Munro saying basically the same thing in his latest Tesla casting video. Why?

You guys are making a mountain out of molehill because of your politics is what I’m saying.

Care to comment the salient point?

So, now can you explain what part of my original statement you are disagreeing with? ?

Sure, Inspector, (even though it was crystal clear when I said it the FIRST TIME)! ?

>>>That we hadn’t heard of these incidents.<<<

We most certainly had. Whether they legitimately happened (your modifier), which can only apply to the second two allegations, isn’t controlled by whether we heard about them or not or received sufficient proof for us to determine that they were legitimate.

“They’re eating the cats!” is not the same assertion as “There have been reports that they are eating the cats.”

Now, that you’ve solved the case of the missing legitimacy; Are Doug and Sandy clowns, too? If not; why not?
