I got a vin on Oct 5 2024. Waited about 2 weeks then messaged Tesla in the app if they would happen to know a deliver date. They said you CT is in transit and showing delivery in 2 weeks. Great so I thought. 2 weeks passed and asked again in the app. They said it should be soon. I asked the person if they could elaborate on "soon". They replied we don't actually know when it will be here but it is in transit. Now 5 weeks later I stopped at the local Tesla dealership to ask. I was told it should be about 2 weeks it is in transit, again. I replied I was told that 5 weeks ago. She said it is closer. I asked if she could elaborate on "closer". All she could tell me is its closer than it was 5 weeks ago.

First off I know I am impatient. However, I like to be told the truth at least. Has anyone had issues with the people at their local Dealer and messages? Mine is West Palm Beach location. Have had multiple problems with service with my 2023 MYP. 3 times had to bring something back that they said they fixed but never actually fixed it. Service reps talk to each other about their weekend and other things before waiting on customers. Don't even get me started on their loaner vehicles.

To sum up. Is this the typical Tesla dealership experience? Do they not actually know if a truck is on its way or not? I am worried that I might be in for more than I can deal with if this is the typical dealership experience. Especially since I plan to do quite a bit of towing with my CT and I know about the issues.

Don't attribute to lies what can more easiy be explained by them not actually knowing when your Cyberrtruck will be delivered. Tesla hires third-party transport companies and they have to give them a certain amount of delivery leniency to get the best transport rates. And It's not unusual for there to be not enough car carriers available. The trucks are considered "in transport" as soon as they are in the lot at GigaTexas ready to be transported so if there is a shortage of available transporters, it will take longer than the average, which is probably what they based their expectations on.

But it does put a hole in the theory that Tesla is having trouble unloading all the Cybertrucks they are making these days. And, when you get yours, and start driving it and using it to get stuff done, you will understand how Tesla can sell so many electric pickups at $80-$100K.

I agree that Tesla may not know when a CT will be delivered. However, I think it's reasonable to expect them to be honest about what they do know. Not say soon when they don't know, or say its closer then when you ask where is it that it's now closer and they can't tell you where it is.
For example with my MYP, if they say they fixed a problem, it should be fixed. If they can't fix it, they should be honest about that. I've had problems with the service department at my local Tesla dealership. I've had to bring my car back three times for the same problem. Each time they say they fixed it, but it wasn't fixed. The last two time I specifically asked the service writer if he checked. He said he did both times it was fixed. Those are lies. The service writers talk among themselves about their weekends instead of helping customers. I expect to be in service a lot with my CT because of its towing shortcomings. If this is what I can expect from Tesla service, I don't know if I'm up for it. Especially if they give me another loaner that someone puked in and they never cleaned.

But I thought all the “NFS” people were talking so much smack that they waited a few weeks and saved 20k and FS owners were dumb? Thought you all were getting those over night ?

I’m by Sarasota, FL and I am getting the same run around with delivery date and even financing. I messaged in the app several times and no help. We are buying under a business name. It’s been a week now since we applied for financing, still no word on financing or delivery date.

Mine delayed from the orginal pickup date (Ft.Lauderdale); from what I gleamed the trucks come by rail to North Florida. At the point of conveyance ,they wait for the third party transporters. This process can be mismatched because SF now has 5 SCs which deliver CTs. What SC if I may ask?

They just don’t know so they can’t tell you!

Actually, I've seen them look up a vehicle in transit on their system before at the service center-- they were able to see its current location (on a train) and its estimated time of arrival (down to the minute). They mentioned that these times are not always reliable, and they are frequently late, but still, having data is nice. I don't know why they don't tell customers more information. It takes seconds to look up and type out a brief update. (Could probably have an LLM AI bang this stuff out automatically.)

My NFS was ordered 10/5 & I had the exact same experience except subjectively worse. I was promised confident delivery dates twice (not the non-confident estimate that is provided) along with setting a delivery date. They even went so far as to let me know I could sell my car, to which I did.

I still have my NFS AWD on order just to see how long it will take to actually show up. The good news for me though is I got the deal of a lifetime on a new FS Cyberbeast and I took it.

I don’t think you’re being impatient, you’re rightfully upset about being fibbed at. The long story short is that Tesla has no idea when your truck will arrive until 2 days prior to your delivery date. Right now your truck is sitting in Austin waiting for a train.

I heard someone mention that if you order BMW from factory, they will provide you live tracking system from factory to all the way to dealership. I know Tesla have tracking capabilities built in the vehicle. It would be a great feature to have to for future buyer to tract it all the way.

I really doubt the in-vehicle tracking is turned on during transport. Because the carrier doesn't guarantee a quick, uniterupted delivery to the delivery center. It's largely out of Tesla's hands. Even if they have the capability to track the train, they can't predict the future motion of that train accurately, anything can happen.

I think the real problem here is the impatience caused by the fact that Tesla has made a truck that is so far above what you can get from other manufacturers that you generally can't just walk into a showroom and buy one off the floor, like you can with almost all other trucks. Legacy trucks on dealership lots are all shiny and prepped, waiting only for a mark to come in and plunk down big money for a truck of questionable value.

The solution? When you buy a Cybertruck, you cannot count on a specific delivery date unless you have enough patience to wait for the Delivery Center to call you up and tell you your Cybertruck is ready and waiting for you.

6 weeks now and still no truck. Messaged on the Tesla app today and I was told "Once we get an update for you we will let you know". At least they quit giving me the "two weeks" line.
