I usually listen to a lot of audiobooks (or MP3 Music) while driving. Now my trip to work is 25 min or less and most MP3 Rips of CDs is 60-74 min long Files. My issue with this is every time I get into the CT I have to tell it again where the files is to get it to play and then it starts at the beginning, not where I left off. I was totally shocked with this great computer in these , that I am seeing this issue I have not scene in probably 20 years of being able to play Long MP3 files in my vehicles.
Has anyone else run across this before or had this issue in a 3,y,s, or X they may have owned before the CT.
Without Car Play to be able to stream from my phone either and that's a pain to loads these ABKs on that since it is a iPhone.
I am sure I am not the only one to see this yet. Also, does anyone know how to report this to Tesla in possibility in getting it fixed?
Love this group, and its the first time to ask for help, hoping someone has answers.

The first thing that came to mind is, how are you transporting the file(s)? I haven’t ripped a CD in quite some time but I’m familiar with the output.

On the sentry USB drive? I don’t have experience here but I know it can be done for media.

On your phone? Sounds like this is the way I’d go even without CarPlay. I’d pair your phones Bluetooth to the CT . Select bluetooth as your media source and play from your phone. I play podcasts from YouTube this way effortlessly and countless times over.

I'm not sure if Audible has come to the CT yet (I have had it on my X for a couple months) but if so, did you try it? I may completely misunderstand the problem, sorry if this is a stupid answer.

Seems like this person likely isn’t interested in an Audible subscription, and is talking about the troubles of using audio files on a usb drive. Audible is awesome, I’m a heavy user. But I definitely pay a premium for ease of use. However I have zero issues using audible in my CT and this thread helps me justify that premium I pay, a little.

Do you subscribe to any music services? If so, are you logged in ane playing from there?

Alternatively you can play it from your phone via Bluetooth.

Yeah, Audible works great in the Cybertruck. And has the added benefit of syncing up across multiple vehicles.

I hate subscriptions, and so used to just stream audiobooks from my phone. Having experienced Audible for half a year now, though, I'd never go back.

With BT you can do whatever you want with a Ct or any tesla. Open whatever you are listening on the phone and play it on the truck. You dont need carplay for that

Yes. It has and I haven’t ripped a CD of a book since I first got Audible back in … something like 2001; when they were still sending out the little blue MP3 player with your subscription.

I use BookPlayer on my iPhone, lets me upload audiobook formats to my phone (m4a, m4b, and a lot others), and then I just pair my phone to the truck via Bluetooth. Does a great job and also does a good job keeping your place, so that may be an option for you!

I don't have a subscription to Audible. I could not put them on my phone before because they took up a lot of room and I only had a 8GB phone. So I am used to using USB drives and no I am not using the Tesla one for sentry mode. I have a larger Drive I formatted per instructions and it has my files on it, music and ABKS and Old Time Radio files. I listen to a lot of audio and it not all on Audible.
Obviously this is not such a big deal with music because I can always just tell it to shuffle the files anyway. But a 1/2 hour or Hour long OTR program or hour and fifteen minute Book CD is more problematic. Sorry it sounds like everyone has moved on from this style of listening. I am too old school lol.
" I use BookPlayer on my iPhone " Thanks John I will give it a try.

The bluetooth route does sound like the way to go although I've admitted not yet done that in my CT.

I've used Audible for years, so the right answer for me was sticking with it in the CT. I don't even consider it a subscription service since the monthly buy-in provides me with a credit for 1 audiobook every month. That's something I keep even if I cancel the monthly purchase.

OP and anyone else who uses Audible, try Libby it has free audio books with Library membership. You can also add multiple libraries for more book availability.

Just an Update, I tried the Bluetooth Route and it no better than the USB. If I start playing a 1 hour MP3 and 1/3 into it stops playing and won't restart that file period. Very Frustrating. I have never been able to get a video file to play either, I have tried all the common formats MP4, MOV, Mpeg, MKV nothing seems to work. So if I ever get to the point I am stuck at a super charger for 30 minutes I better have premium Connectivity and Netflix to keep from pulling my hair out.....Wait the is already gone....Lol

I've since tried Bluetooth myself, but just to continue listening to YouTube videos while I'm driving. (Yes, and not looking down to watch it since Big Brother is watching for FSD reasons!)

I hope your search ultimately bears fruit. I will say that I've been pretty pleased with Audible, but I don't know if they allow other audio books to be played via their app.

I guess is the hair pulling option has been exhausted, your down to fingernail chewing or the like. Fingers crossed for consistent premium connectivity. It's Netflix or YouTube for me while charging.
