Hey everyone haven’t found a solid answer on this. Installed a radar and tapped into the same wire used when installing a rear camera mirror. So far I haven’t seen my radar turn off. At home I have sentry mode off but still haven’t noticed it be off.
Any experience with this for others?

If you are near the CT with your phone that tap wire will fire up as the truck wakes itself up. Try parking it in your garage, take your phone and leave it in the house. Wait a few minutes for the car to shut down and go back out without the phone. Should be off.

Will give it a try. Wonder if someone will find another tap that responds a little better. However it got set up in my MYP is great.

Yeah, I tapped the same power wire in the mirror/camera cluster, it for sure goes off when I'm not near. It's a bit light checking the fridge light goes off, can you ever be really sure? ?

I forget the setting I have on the detector itself, but I think that's also set to go off after xx mins of no movement/GPS, but the truck normally shuts off power first.

mine has the BAT saver mode but i think that stops it from auto turning on right? when you get in do you need to wake up the radar?

it wakes up 90% of the time, the other 10% I have to turn it on. Not sure what the correlation is there, I guess just a certain sequence of events between the truck power and the power saving on the detector.

My radar detector is tapped at the same location but I use its “off” button or stow it. I only use it when road tripping. I don’t want some tweaker harming my truck trying to get into the cab because there is an easily resalable/pocket portable item displayed for all to see.

But I used to power my rear view mirror from that same tap and it was turned on whenever the cameras were active and also at times when I thought it should be “off.”

Previously I powered my radar detector from pin 12 of the OBD connector in the driver’s footwell. But that is not supposed to turn off, although now I am using it to power my Auxbeam switch and I think that it might shut off in the CT.

Sometimes my 48 v accessory feed randomly shuts off, and for the life of me there does not appear to be rhyme nor reason to the randomness.

🤔🤔🤔
