I have a specific requirement for a 40+ watt USB-C charger that I have not found a solution for.

Requirements:
  1. 40+ watts
  2. It must automatically charge and turn off with the vehicle (so I cant use the AC outlets or 48v accessory connections)
Ideas:
  • Tap into 48v wiring somewhere in the cabin, then I can use a 48v DC USB charger which I have.
  • A power bank, but I have not found a way for it to start/stop with the vehicle.
Any help or suggestions would be apprciated.

Just so I can understand better, what are the reasons you cannot use the built in USB-C ports?

Would something like a USB-C charger plugged in to one of the inside outlets work? I know you said you can’t use them but you can set them to turn on when you get in and also tell them to now remain one when you get out.

What are you looking to power?

Wow oh wow I feel foolish. The USBC outlet in the center console provides enough power. I was using an ODB2 Port to USBC adapter and it wasn't strong enough, I just assumed the other USB ports would be insufficient.

Thank you so much. thread resolved.

There's also a 120V outlet in the center storage, I have a 200W 8-port USB A/C brick adapter in there to power multiple devices.

And I have a 1000W 110VAC->12VDC adapter (not inside the console due to possible heat, but plugged in there; the cord is long enough) and a 12V lighter socket strip that hooks to it, which has some (probably modest powered) USB A and C ports too. That runs my radar detector and standalone GPS. The high power is so it can also drive my 12V air pump (318W, figure double that starting surge). The combo of those two items handles all the power types I want up front.
