There are wire cables that enter the battery pack Anyone have knowledge of how the battery pack is sealed? What sealants are used, is it military grade Amphenol and Cannon connectors? Is there a pressure test made on the pack? This would be something like pressurize the pack up to some value and see if it holds that pressure for some amount of time. It's important! You know some one is going to drive the CT on the beach and get it partially in to the saltwater from wave action or whatever. Typically what happens is they park their car/truck on low tide and when the tide "comes in" their car/truck is setting in the water.

There are underwater fishing lights that stay in the water, but now if you try to make your own with silicone sealant they won't last but maybe a day. The company that makes the underwater lights won't tell me what they use for sealant. and now I learn there is also compressed air tubing to pressurize the pack.

And now I learn there is also compressed air tubing to pressurize the pack. What is the equipment that does the pressurization, compressor, valve, and tubing. Where is it located? How robust is it?

Search on "Wade Mode" on google and you might find some more details. The compressor is the same one the suspension uses.

What are you wanting to accomplish? A modification to your truck?

OMG; do really need to concern ourselves with all the “what if” just enjoy the CT.

From his profile it looks like the OP hasn't yet bought a Cybertruck. I think he's looking for information about how it's built and how robust it is. The pointers provided in responses in this thread should help provide that.

The pack cannot be sealed due to the varying temperature causing pressure changes.

The pressurization system is to allow the pack to be submersed safely while fording.

Tesla battery packs have a great track record on resisting moisture intrusion during ordinary use.

No, No! definitely not. just accessing assurance that water will not get into the pack. I will need to drive it on the salt water beach. not intending on going in the water. planning to hose off the under carriage afterwards.

Let’s hope not. Bad idea. Tampering with the battery sealing system would in all likelihood void the warranty.
definitely not going to tamper with the pack. just accessing assurance that water will not get into the pack. I will need to drive it on the salt water beach. not intending on going in the water. planning to hose off the under carriage afterwards.

S,3,Y,CT,CT(holding pattern) Slate is back on
Tesla learned its lessons many years ago. An example when the tubing on the model S AC would leak onto the top of the pack or the penthouse if I recall and would infiltrate the pack. Many would change the tubing on own to change the flow.

I guess what I would say is Tesla and customers have gone through the pains to get to what I would say is a quality pack and associated components that are better than what is available now anywhere else.

It is a great question, but I wouldn't buy another truck battery from anyone other than Tesla. Trucks do different things than cars. So I would say the systems are well thought out, but new. As in new tech that is being introduced. Tesla may learn here as well. Yet it is a better battery today than it would have been if they made a truck back in 2015.

We are all early adopters at any level of all EV's. As we are in a minority. It will be questions like these that helps us conquer the ICE market over time.

No worries on water. Yet if one uses wade mode 3 times a day for lets say 3 or 4 years I would say the system might not work. As it hasn't been tested for that long. So only thing I would see would be component failures of the system. Which lead to part replacement. Pack isn't likely to be one of those as long as the system is on and working while wading.

"The pack can not be sealed due to varying temperature causing pressure changes" Thats interesting, I don't quite know what to think about it. Having worked in petrochemical plants I have seen water pour out of electrical enclosures that was tightly sealed with quality gasketing and tightly fastened bolts spaced every inch around the opening and wondered how did water get in there. But I do know in certain areas of the plant, where required, it is possible to seal electrical equipment to prevent hydrocarbon vapors from penetrating equipment where electrical arcs happen, (Class 1 Div 2) but that is extremely expensive and physically not possible on a vehicle. I want the cybertruck badly, but I don't want to create a situation I'll always worry about. I love my Y.

Yours is a great response to my question. "but I wouldn't buy another truck battery from anyone other than Tesla." Exactly!
