Going from Ford Lightning to Cybertruck? Thinking of trading up to the cheaper 60k CT from a Lightning, worth ~ extra 10k?

One of the quoted reasons Tesla's stock value has been recently decreasing.

"Tesla’s Full Self-Driving safety metrics sharply deteriorated, with city miles to critical disengagement dropping to 809 miles in v14.2 from 4,109 miles in v14.1, compared to Waymo’s 30,000-mile standard."

It isn't just me, the new version of FSD is having problems. 14.3 needs to come quickly.
When you have to quote 'analyst' Gordon Johnson to make your case, you have already lost all credibility. Everybody that knows anything knows Gordon Johnson is full of pure fiction.

I can tell by your take that you don't have any recent experience with FSD ver. 14.2 (or you wouldn't be saying such uninformed things).

What you are doing here is more than obvious to all but the least informed people.

Interesting, I didn’t realize the bed volume was bigger on CT, so that is another pro for CT
Not everyone needs a bigger bed. That's why some buy a Tacoma which suits they're needs.

I went from a Lightning Lariat SR to a CT just over a year ago.

I've had a number of F150's and the lightning was very much like the ICE version....I had it for almost 2 years (bought it used with low mileage).

CT is significantly better for me, I was very familiar with Tesla before though...had a model s and the lightning.

Pros for CT:
range and effeciency
4 way steering (easy to maneuver in parking lots)
FSD (it is truly remarkable at this point.....was not so great when I first bought it but really amazing now.....I loved blue cruise too but this works everywhere)
supercharging network
smaller so fits in the garage (also a negative depending on if you need something larger)

Pros for Lightning
larger (roomier inside and more bed and frunk room)
really nice interior and more traditional
inconspicuous (looks like the best selling vehicle in the US for 40+ years)

overall the CT is about 80% the size of the Lightning so keep that in mind, Lightning is a great vehicle but the CT is just amazing.

one con with CT is the political stuff but that seems to have died down

In terms of cost:

I sold my lightning for around 40k to Tesla (bought for 55k 2 years prior)
I bought the CT (lease for 7500 rebate at the time) for what amounted to $69k which was a good price for what it offers....the $60k version would have been even better for me but I did get a few extra features with the "Premium" AWD
Wait. I'll give you Frunk space but, Lightning bed size = 67.1" at the floor. The bed is 50.2" wide between the fenders. It has a cargo volume of 52.8 cubic feet of cargo volume in the bed.

Cybertruck bed size = 72" on the floor and 66" at bedrail height but . Plus, it's 51" wide. It has a cargo volume of 58.1 cubic feet in the bed.

However, the lightning IS easier to reach over at the front of the bed.

Yeah, I didn’t realize it, for some reason ford bed seemed bigger but by volume that isn’t the case

It's a lot closer than I thought. My previous F-150 and CT were almost identical in all physical measurements, length, width, height, bed size, etc. Actually, My F-150 had a 5.5' bed.

My f150 was about 10% bigger

Cybertruck fits fairly easy in garage but lightning wouldn’t, interior of lightning was bigger (esp rear seating area)

Cybertruck is more reasonable size though even for family of 5…..it’s in between full size and medium size trucks. (Closet to full size but not quite)

My last F-150 had the rearward opening rear doors... worst design possible. It was the shortest F-150 I had owned of the 8 F-series I've owned through the years. Not shorter than the Maverick though! The CT definitely has more room up front than the F-150s, not the 250/350/450s. In the rear, I honestly can't remember the other ones but I know it has more room than the Extended cab 2019 I had.

Extended cab in 2019 was for sure smaller in the back…..crew cab f150 rear is much bigger than almost anything….really more on par with a maybach or limo for legroom (a bit too much, would be better to have a 6’ bed with less legroom).

Looking online quickly, F150 has 4-5” more shoulder/hip room front and back and 3” more legroom in the back than the lightning….roomier but CT is plenty roomy for most.

I'll throw my .02 into the ring... we have both the F150 Lightening Flash and the CT AWD.

The CT is definitely a funner ride. The FSD blows anything else away. Bluecruise is a joke and only works on a handful of roads...its a complete waste. The CT tech is amazing.

The F150 is a nice luxurious ride. Its your typical Ford smooth and luxe feel to it. Its has a classic upper end Ford feel to it. The CT has a rougher ride and doesn't feel upper end. It has some squeaks and rattles. The F150 doesn't get nearly the attention and the CT still garners a middle finger or two. I still get the heebie jeebies leaving it parked when I run errands in fear of someone doing something to it... I wish the morons would give up their hate for Musk... that's old hat news.

They both have their own sets of pros and cons as shown above. If I had to pick one over the other, it would be the CT as I am more tech oriented. But in all honesty, they are both enjoyable to drive in their own ways.

I'm thinking of going to a CT from my Lightning, after trade in and fees I'm thinking it's probably going to be like 10-15k extra... does anyone have any experience going from Lightning -> CT?

I like the Lightning but I'm thinking I'll like the CT more
Haven’t read all the replies but did you put a pre-order in when it was $60k? Because it’s $70k now, just in case you didn’t see.
