Looking for objective feedback from other Cybertruck owners and anyone experienced with PPF installs.

I had my Cybertruck wrapped in satin black Kavaca PPF by a Ceramic Pro Elite dealer. Total cost was about $5,000 for a full body wrap. After a separate accident, the passenger-side quarter panel was replaced and rewrapped by the same shop for an additional $1,000.

From the beginning, things didn’t seem right. When I picked the truck up after the panel rewrap, it hadn’t even been washed and the new panel already had visible dirt and contamination under the film. That panel was also supposed to have ceramic coating applied, but it appeared dirty and unprepped, which made me question whether proper prep and coating were actually done.

Since then, I’ve had ongoing issues across the truck:

  • Lifting and peeling edges in multiple areas
  • Visible contamination and particles trapped under the film
  • Jagged, uneven cuts instead of clean lines
  • Driver-side mirror has a section left exposed (bare stainless showing instead of being wrapped)
  • Edges on the tailgate and along the bottom of the driver-side door not wrapped around
  • Items listed on the original quote (PPF on headlights, taillights, brake lights) were not installed. When I asked, the installer said he “can” add it, but it wasn’t done as part of the original job
I’ve taken the truck back multiple times and some areas were reworked, including the replaced panel, but the issues persist. At one point the installer even admitted he “forgot” to set some edges. He’s also said contamination can be normal and blamed the truck/material.

When I asked for a refund, he declined and said the only option was for him to redo it again under warranty.

I’ve since had two independent PPF shops review it (one being another Ceramic Pro installer), and both said the install quality is poor and that the proper fix is full removal and rewrap of the entire vehicle.

At this point I don’t have confidence in the original installer to redo it, but I want to sanity check before moving forward.

For those with experience:
  • Are these types of issues normal for Cybertruck PPF, or does this indicate poor workmanship?
  • Would you trust the same installer to redo it, or go elsewhere?
  • Is full removal and rewrap the right move here?
Appreciate any honest feedback.

I installed my own PPF. The cantrail is particularly hard to deal with. Its hard to clean around the edges because it has rubber seals on the top, contamination is very likely. It was the only place I had issues. Its also the edge closest to your sight-line so you are very likely to see problems.

PPF is also very difficult to do on the 180° edges the CT has, most other cars round off their metal panels.

Based on what I see in your photos I would ask for problem areas to be redone. After they have been hanging in the elements for that long those pieces of PPF will never stick again very easily. The adhesive is now completely coated in dust and moisture. There is no financial cost to return to the installer and have them do it again under warranty. Going somewhere new would be a huge additional cost. If you are up to it you could do it yourself for under $1700.

TLDR: Your install is a lost cause, have the installer redo it until they get it right. No install will ever be 100% perfect, but this is a mess.

Alteratively you could run a razor along the edges and make it an Edge-to-Edge job instead of a Wrap Around job. That would solve most of the issues you see, and you would only see a tiny sliver of silver at the edges.

Was there a written agreement before the work was provided? It's industry standard practice to not provide refunds but to address the issues within the warranty period.

Yeah, in order to get a refund you may have to take them to court. I'd pester them to redo it until it was up to your standards and afterwards I'd leave them a review that is relevant to the service to you feel you got

I had my CT wrapped in TN. Where did you get yours done?

I’ve asked him to fix the edges and issues multiple times and they’re never corrected.

Yes, there was an invoice/quote for the work. It listed what was included in the service, including full vehicle coverage and additional items like headlights and taillight coverage.

However, some of those listed items were not installed, and the work that was completed had multiple defects. I also returned multiple times under the warranty for repairs, but the issues were not resolved.

I'm out of town, not near my CT. When I get home, I'll get some close-ups.
