Fantastic job and not a scratch on the ppf ! Good write up, almost felt like I was there sweating out the decision to go for it myself. Slow & steady got the job done. Are you going to post dashcam or action camera videos as well?

It's always fun to prove the haters wrong, isn't it? So much of the ICE community downplays the Cybertruck's offroad capabilities, but this truck can compete with the best of them.

Yesterday, during my trek around Hell's Revenge in Moab, Utah, I headed down to the infamous Hell's Gate offshoot. It's a one way trail that follows a deep, steep V-notch about 100 yards.

On a typical Saturday, the top has a crowd gathered to watch various rigs make the attempt (or not). I jumped out of my Cybertruck on arrival and joined the crowd.

The first thing I saw was a Toyota wedged against the wall, getting winched out by a Jeep at the top of the trail. Quickly realized, ok, this is serious...

They got him yanked out. A few more went up afterwards without any issue, taking a nice steady line and keeping well-centered. I start thinking, well, maybe I can do this with the Cybertruck after all...

Then this happens:

Damn. So you can easily roll over if you get the wrong line. And in front of this crowd of ICE off-roaders. Not sure if I want to do it. Called up a friend who had been talking about doing it himself, and he suggested to walk down to the bottom. So I did:

It's amazing how our eyes deceive us depending on the angle. From down here, it totally looked doable for the Cybertruck. And anyhow, I knew the truck could do it, because Cybertruck's lead engineer had done it back in 2024 as part of an off-road promotional video. But nobody had tried it since...

A few more went up as I walked back to the top. They struggled, but I could see from their attempts that I just needed to keep my right tire up the right wall. The worst is to let that side fall down. If you do, you're toast.

I watch a few from the top. Some of the crowd members were starting to egg me on. They knew I was the Cybertruck guy since the truck sticks out among the crowd of Jeeps and 4-runners up there.

After a few more go through, some of the heavy crowd dispersed. Seemed like a good moment to consider it.

I worked up my courage. "Ok, I'm going to do it!" I announced. I head back to my truck and decide I better air down a bit more to give my tires a better chance at retaining grip. I go down from 34 to 28 PSI.

I descended down the backside of the trail, a nice 25 degree+ decent. By the time I round the corner, the crowd had re-gathered at the top, all staring down. I guess word got out that a Cybertruck was going to try it.

"Alright...." I said to myself. "Don't F this up. Go slow, stay steady, keep that right tire up". My nerves were totally rattling.

And that's exactly what I did. There's an etched mark along the right side that I knew was the right target. I followed that up. As I got past the midway point, a guy helped spot and direct me with small adjustments.

Just as I reached the top, I could feel the front right tire popping up. All I could see ahead was sky and the top of the spotter's hands. He said just keep coming, that right tire would drop. All I could do was trust.

And sure enough it did. A better line would have been to cut left a bit earlier, but the spiked tire was a crowd pleaser. As the truck pulled up over the last ledge, the crowd cheered. Many couldn't believe it. One guy said he'd have to swallow his pride lol.

I jumped out of the truck and immediately thanked my spotter. I asked him if he was up there often. "No, I just did it my first time earlier today!" Ha, I'm glad I didn't know that beforehand

As a word of advice: don't let the haters discourage you. This truck can do amazing things, even stock, even the dual-motor.

For those wondering, tires were 28PSI Duratracs. Offroad - overland - rock mode in "very high" suspension. Slow and steady wins the race.

One other thing I want to mention: Moab is a great place. The off-roaders out here are overwhelmingly positive and supportive. I saw tons of smiles, thumbs ups, waves, and great comments throughout the day.

So get out there with your Cybertruck and hit some amazing trails. The truck will continually impress!

Great write-up. You are a good story teller and I enjoyed reading about your experience. That's a bit more extreme than anything I'd want to do but it was cool to read about.

I'm pretty sure the Wrangler Duratrac RT's have less rock traction than the Wrangler Territory or the Pirelli's so I'm glad you didn't run into the Devil himself up there!
