Greetings all!

Got my VIN about two weeks ago, order date April 7th, est arrival date is next week (May 5th), however when calling, there will be a containment hold on the CT. It's currently not yet at the Service Center, but is in transit.

My financing with Ally is at the 30 day mark on May 7th. Tesla states 30-60 days for financing approval. I am in Indiana.

I read mixed reports about financing expiry, if it's 30 or 60 days, and Tesla promising to "refresh" financing, but it leads to another hard credit pull from what I'm reading, and rates could change.

I just don't want my financing approval to lapse and something happen that the downpayment or APR goes haywire and I'm forced to cancel. The delivery advisor tried checking and couldn't find information around the financing expiry and needed to check with the manager (I'll report back if/when they get back to me).

I'm not sure why I'm so stressed out about this - any other success, or horror stories, especially around financing?

congrats on the CT. i waited until version 2 so elon got all the kinks out and my 2026 awt ct is really perfect. you will love this joker!

that said, you can text an SA on this, or you can read threads about it. its 60 days for me and its been 60 days for the last 2 teslas ive had. but you can be different , so just text the SA you been in contact with or call a local SC and ask someone.

ive read that tesla will not usually "Refresh" anything (if i understand what you mean by this) -- if its expired you have to re-run it again. there can be some exceptions but that is the norm.
Thanks for that! I'll cross my fingers and hope it's 60 days and stop stressing about it. I even tried calling Ally and they can't see when their own loan approval expires. It's wild.

Congrats! Are they telling you the reason for the containment hold?

They are not, the delivery advisor sounded very overworked and a little sharp - didn't push him hard as of yet as he's supposed to be getting with the manager about financing expiry and let me know.

I think I should focus on my hobbies for a bit and see what shakes out in a week or so as it's supposed to be at the SC May 5th.

OK, so I was worried about a similar thing. I applied for financing on 25 MAR, and my delivery date is 01 MAY. Past the 30 days, and now the 3.99 is gone. However, in my case the option to pay remaining balance became available (downpayment/fees/etc.) I made the payment immediately. Now it shows complete and the financing terms are listed on the contract as 3.99 even though 30 days has elapsed.

Who did you select for financing? Ally, Santander?

They said that the containment hold was due to "vsh splay"

VSH = Voltage Sense Harness. It's the small-gauge wiring that runs from each brick (cell group) in the HV pack up to the Battery Monitoring Boards (BMBs), so the BMS can measure individual brick voltages and impedances.

"Splay" almost certainly refers to the physical defect mode — the sense pins/terminals at the BMB connector spreading apart so they don't make proper contact, or the harness wires separating at the crimp. That's a classic manufacturing defect for fine-pitch sense connectors and exactly the kind of thing QA would catch on a containment hold

They also verified that the CT is still sitting in Austin.

I highly doubt it'll be here anytime soon, at least not within the May 3th to 7th estimated delivery window.

They got back with me, they'll know more on 5/8/26 as that's when the factory said they'll have an update on rectification steps (or at least some communication from them). They also said it's still being shipped & they will do the work at the SC.

We'll see what they say on the 8th. Factory has historic terrible communication with SCs, esp around containment holds. Also not sure yet why it's still sitting in Austin either way.

Interesting that they are pushing your SC to do it.
