Thought the hail was over and decided to drive during the whole tornado fiasco on Saturday. Unfortunately it started hailing halfway through my drive home. I was driving in the hail for a solid minute and got to an overpass to hide under. For what seemed like eternity, half of the truck was stuck outside the overpass because people wouldn’t move forward.

The resulting damage is two tiny dents on the tonneau that require a light to see and wipeable scuff marks on the car (they didn’t leave any damage). Fortunately, the round that I got didn’t look baseball sized. Not the most impressive testimony for the strength of this car, but one of the more realistic scenarios for what someone would encounter.

Glad you came out relatively unscathed.

Not long ago there was another post about a Cybertruck in a hail storm and the only damage was to the tonneau cover. I believe the consensus was, if you have an opportunity in a hail storm, would be to open the tonneau cover and let the bed take the hit.

Last year after Memorial Day weekend I was driving in Central Texas and a hail storm happened. I just drove the Cybertruck right on through. A moving target will not get hit solid. I had no damage at all. The over passes I did go under were filled with a lot of less capable vehicles.

I slowed down because I thought going faster would lead to a harder impact on the vehicle. Was in too much of a panic to google it.

The windshield would take harder hits if the vehicle was moving forward, the tonneau less severe hits. Best thing to do in a severe hail storm (if no cover is available), open the tonneau and come to a stop (it operates fine while driving).

Glad you didn't get the worst of the hail. Mineral Wells looks terrible after the hail and tornados.

I've often wondered what would happen if the CT was caught in a hailstorm. Now I know thanks to your post. (y)

Good info/experiences shared.
My 17MS has gone through so many hail storms without damage mostly in Texas. So, I don’t have any concerns with the CT. (Within reason, of course.)
