What forms of corrosion can occur in stainless steels?
The most common forms of corrosion in stainless steel are:
Pitting corrosion - The passive layer on stainless steel can be attacked by certain chemical species. The chloride ion Cl- is the most common of these and is found in everyday...
In 2010 the Model S and Space X vertical take off and landing were just dreams. Elon is a dreamer who loves to surprise sceptics.. In recent OTA update are stop signs, traffic lights, and even garbage cans, go Elon.
Yea, I saw that too. My hope is that was plan B, and new batery tech is plan A. New - meaning more dense, (no double stack necessary) and lasting a million miles, less or no Cobalt, even dry.
We will know a whole lot more after Tesla Battery and Drivetrain Investor Day, next year, where, Elon teased, there will be “(mostly) unexpected technology announcements”. Go Elon!
The German gov should pay more attention to diesel cars by VW and Daimler avoiding exhaust pollution regs and less to trucks not even in their purview.
I’m sure Tesla, who have a peerless record in safety, will do justice to this product.
The orange version is waaaaay too NORMAL. Has to be stainless, unpainted or maybe basic black or psychedelic wrap. Personally, I like the sharp angles.
If CT come equiped with both front and back trailer hitches then attaching a non-motorized snow plow would be possible. As far a a heavy duty plow - it seems not possible without body on frame construction. Normal plows are bolted to frame and CT has no frame. Maybe welding to exoskeleton is...
I hope that by 2022 we see level 5 FSD. The CT as a loaner has big potential, plus I’m not getting any younger- so a driving aide could help an old fogey living in real winter country.
I agree with your estimates. My concern is the effect on the bed cover in terms of fragility and repairability. A folding solar array could be very vulnerable to scratching and other damage that would impact effectiveness as a solar collector very quickly. I’m a little afraid that it would...
Agreed. What is possible, or probable, is that the 300 is actually 320-340, with a real world figure of 280. The 500 could easily be 480 with a real world figure of 450. I have miles to go before I sleep...
Yes, the 500mile battery is exciting for applications outside of mere range like camping lights, stove, heat or ac, tools, backup power, etc. It is especially exciting if it consists of new battery tech (as opposed to just twice as many batteries).
Yes, never thought of that. The torque vectoring can present a mechanical issue that would be overcome with two back motors. I guess the front end would still have to be vectored?
I have changed my order several times and can’t make up my mind. Currently back to Trimotor. Here are my criteria:
I do no towing, minimal hauling, speed is not something I’m into, little off roading, price is small consideration, def FSD.
The trimotor seems like it will last longer, have better...
