I really hope with 4 manufacturers of EV Pickup trucks (Rivian, Ford, GM, and Tesla) that trailer manufacturers will realize that boxes with wheels no longer are really going to cut it, that they will need to do aerodynamic R&D and/or testing to get more efficient shapes.
Look at some of the...
Close, it was a university that was followed up by a regulatory agency⦠According to NYTimes.
āThe on-road testing in May 2014 that led the California Air Resources Board to investigate Volkswagen was conducted by researchers at West Virginia University.ā...
I did not think they said 500 miles between charges, right, just in one day (but I could be misremembering and then there is the source of said statementā¦.)
Yes, some off road is just slow, but other times it is expending a lot of energy on a āsurfaceā that is not stable and/or provides little...
I have seen industrial shelving hold turbines, transmissions, and other dense metalā¦
Got o your local metal shop that sells c and square tube steel, look how they store them⦠industrial shelving can handle a lot of weight and with all of that cross bracing and re-enforced shelves, I bet those...
How can you claim range without the vehicle that battery will be in? Aerodynamics, weight, rolling resistance, how it is driven, where it is driven, etc⦠so many variablesā¦
nC battery charging is very interesting.
I hope it works as expected and does not shorten the life of the battery.
Off roading miles could be more energy intensive than highway, but sometimes it is just slower going⦠?āāļø
Also, 500 miles does not mean there was not a recharge in thereā¦
So, I will continue to wait and see what the production truck delivered to customers has. ??
I would like to ask where the air for the rear vents comes from? Because for the last 20 years the cars I have owned, the rear vents are fed the same air, using the same fan, as the dashboard, so recirculating air cools air and pushes it out all the vents, front and back.
Now, I have not owned...
I am not expecting something like that at launch, but do think that just like other vehicles have seen improvements to software, I think this could be added.
I am also hopping that 4 wheel steering will make trailering maneuvers (hooking up, backing up, tight spaces, etc) so much easier.
There is a house design, especially in flood plains, that the bottom floor is just garage, storage, and the upper floors are living.
The bullshit ā2 car garageā that only fits two cars if you park them facing opposite directions just so you can get in and out needs to stop. I can park one car...
My grandmother retired to an RV, then after several years would winter in Texas and drive the rest of the year.
At one point my mom lived in Borrego Springs and commuted 2-3 hours one way to Miramar (San Diego).
I would love to retire to an RV⦠I have tried to convince my wife we could do it...
I thought Tesla says it crash tests to confirm its crash simulation software predictionsā¦
So hopefully that means they do not need to crash as many physical cars.
NN (NeuralNets) are actually good at handling things it has not seen EXACTLY before, but similar⦠That is why FSD does not need the precise LIDAR scans and/or HD mapping as some other autonomous cars require.
And trailers fall into a few standard geometries.
I await to be amazed at what...
I was taught some basic aerodynamics and theory of flight when going thru training to be a helicopter mechanic.
I guess some of it stuck.
The rest I learned from others on ecomodders.
The way it was explained to me is that a sharp edge causes clean separation and so the air behind the flat surface tends to stay there in a turbulent air pocket, while the sphere causes irregular separation that can cause oscillations, but no static pocket of air remains, so drag is increased.
I...
Take a trailer with a flat front, but a tapered rear, then compare it to the v front, flat rear.
(Assuming the same height, width, and weight of the trailer)
The tapered rear will be much more āaerodynamicā because the drag is significantly reduced. The v front does not reduce drag, it does not...
Red button might be required until someone pushing it causes an accident.
How many elevators are manually operated?
Traffic lights?
We have automated so many things, taken humans out of the loop, we have forgotten we even did it to begin with.
There are lazy people in almost every...
