That's interesting if that's the case. If so, where was volume added to the front row such that the space in the middle could no longer practically occupy the 6th seat?
The front door modules maybe? They do look a lot thicker.
This version, the Alpha prototype has been my favourite so far since it might be the most feature-rich; 6th seat, driver’s display, and 4WS. It is likely smaller than the original prototype, but by how much is the question.
Yeah I noticed that too about the side mirrors. Either they're not functioning on this unit or Tesla is serious about having these be removable after delivery.
From the last photo with the driver's door open, look at the B-Pillar.
Note the 4 to 6 rectangular holes in the bed. I don't recall seeing them on the Prod Beta version at Investor Day. Maybe attachment points for accessories or part of a railing system?
It appears that the underbody frame is painted white, which might explain why there are calls for paint...
@greggertruck Thanks for all of your hard work - you've been sleuthing hard!!! Since you've seen CT in person (both stationary and in motion) what is it like to witness it in person? Spare no detail.
Didn't "Cybertruck Insider" ( ?) also say in another video that for Semi, rather than having a tri-motor config as we currently understand it - that it would have 1 motor per axle?
It kills me that M Hyphen Whatever had a photo taken with Franz and Tom. Why couldn't he just cite them as the direct source as opposed to "Tesla Team" which is vague. Franz is even in his 360 walkaround video casually chatting it up with others so it's not like a reliable source wasn't there...
Thanks for your input!!!
Reading your comments made me want to look at the February 2020 issue of MotorTrend, where a few journalists spoke about seeing the progress of the prototype CT at Tesla's design studio.
Funny thing - for the OG truck they provided the following stats:
- Overall bed...
I voted for Full Size.
Extra space means utility and luxury. If production turns out to be significantly smaller such that a 6.5' bed or 6-seats had to be axed, 4WS wouldn't be necessary on a truck that is smaller / mid-sized.
I have so much more appreciation for these, especially after...
So we've seen Tesla try out 3 finishes of wheels so far:
- Bight silver (as shown)
- Gunmetal grey (most of the development fleet after the original prototype)
- Black (most recent vehicle with the triangular side-mirrors)
Bright silver seems off - I think because rather than having a contrast...
Can't say for sure the status of load mode and the ramp but it hasn't made an appearance on any of the subsequent CT builds. In addition to not knowing what features will make it to production, we can only say that these trucks aren't feature-complete. I am still hopeful that it'll be there.
If I had a Rivian I would be interested. Oddly, a lot of people don't like backing into stalls whereas Tesla owners by virtue of necessity have to. The easier thing to do is to get other OEMs to place the charge port on the left-rear. GM/Chevy got this right with the Hummer EV and the Silverado EV.
None. But that's because I don't work at Tesla or anyone else doing cool products.
Also, these Tesla teams might not have even had a chance to see CT in person given the campus' focus (not assembly, design studio, hardware, etc...).
