Completely agree! I only use about 30% of my battery per week when I’m at home (WFH); bounce between 80%-50% SOC. So roughly 50% of a CT battery a week if I don’t plug in Daily. Nearly all of that is used up on the weekend driving.
Agree on the tech, but I work on drilling rigs and pipeline projects that take me to some rural places with limited EV infrastructure. I have to assume that I’ll be untethered in a variety of environments, and doing lots of highway driving for long periods of time. I make it work by going into...
I've always been a fan of the CT, but can't give up my Sierra EV because I need the range. Tried to get my wife into one, but it's not her cup of tea. Anyway, having shopped the CT repeatedly both new and used, I've noted that even used ones aren't dropping below $70k. I'm sure Trade-in is...
it’s not so much that the 450mi range failed than it is that it’s $10-20k more for the models with that option. That limits the pool of buyers.
The 450mi range is the baseline for traditional consumer ICE truck replacements. The catch is it needs to be priced same as the ICE truck. If the CT...
Having come out of the Lightning and into a Sierra EV, my impression is that GM is far more committed to EV’s as shown by their actions, versus all the lip service I got from Ford. Much better support and attitude from GM dealers too, vs Ford. Not to mention, look at their lineups across all GM...
I owned a Lightning Lariat ER and currently own a Sierra EV Denali. I test drove the CT a couple of times before deciding on the GM product. I agree the Lightning is basically a super fast ICE truck, but with better tech when compared to ICE. The GMC is a more comfortable ICE truck, with...
Hope you made it okay, how’d it go? If assume you have at least 105 miles of range with a cargo box style trailer.
I always keep my mobile charger with me on out of town trips as my emergency backup in rural areas is pulling into an RV park to try and charge there.
Where the heck were they able to do that to this truck in Austin? Whoever did that had to go purposely out of their way to get into mud that bad. Especially with the flash drought we’re in now.
The reality is that the “long range” CT landed in the zone below what competing EV trucks are calling mid range; and range is still a high ranking concern to full size truck owners.
Ultimately, this wasn’t really a “long range” option as much as it was a stripped down alternative to dual motor...
I don’t get it, because every time I read or hear something about massive depreciation, I go on Autotrader and find that prices have not dipped below $70-74k. So unless one purchases a foundation edition which was destined to plummet in value once the regular version was out, the CT is...
Hoping that the next refresh can at least get to the 400mi range mark, but my guess is battery tech will need to advance to that level as the consensus on different forums is that Tesla doesn't want to add battery volume.
EV’s are way faster than most of the vehicles driven by th agitators. Personally, I like to gun it, and put enough space between the person and I, that it would take more effort than it’s worth to keep up. Most people don’t have the focus or capability to try and keep up for an extended period...
I’m an early reservation holder, and still hold it. I just couldn’t do the 320 range for the dual motor and ended up in a Sierra EV. Still waiting for Tesla to produce a 440+ range version to convert my reservation one day.
Also agree with many of the other points discussed, the range was just...
Tough question. Love everything about the GM except the tech. With the CT I love the tech and exterior durability, but less so design (not big on getting public attention although ironically I get tons of compliments from strangers on my Sierra).
Just yesterday I told a member on the Silverado...
I don’t even have a CT and disagree that CT’s are massively depreciating, at least not any worse than a conventional vehicle.
You sold at the peak of the depreciation curve for FS models. The second that Tesla began selling non FS models you ate the $20k to be a first adopter. Anyone who has a...
I’ll give you some anecdotal info as someone who frequently does long distance and lives in central Tx, while also doing routine trips to the Houston area. You’re not going to save money or time unless you can make it back home without charging at a fast charger.
Maybe it’s different with the...
Yea, you need the the tax liability for the tax credit to offset. At least my understanding. Just like the personal credit, if your liability is less than $7500, then you wouldn’t get the full credit. Therefore, my understanding, if you made zero sales, hence zero income, hence zero tax to pay...
Feel your pain. At least you don’t have to take it into construction sites. I hate the sound of mud flying off the wheels and pounding the side of my truck. The project that brought that to mind was a mud pit. Even though the site required an onsite “car wash” aka spray down due to the amount of...
At least you got that much out. I’m more the type to make antagonizers angrier by taking the smile and pretend it doesn’t bother me approach, or maybe wave; but my response time still wouldn’t have been fast enough to shout back.
Honestly, I probably would have looked behind me first trying...
What were the charging specs? Don’t quote me on this but I recall Kyle from out of spec maybe downing range or charging? I’d have to go look. I know a lot of these are mall crawlers, but you’re still supposed to feel like you can take the thing into the middle of the Sahara without worrying to...
