Now that I am thinking of getting a Model Y until the CT is ready I have a big question: Will Tesla make all Model Ys with the front gigacasting after they start making them in Austin, or will they have 2 separate models, one with and one without? Second, if the latter is the case, then can we...
I have been wondering when and how all-wheel-steering will work and I am guessing that some people on this forum know, or at least know how it worked on other vehicles. I am assuming it will be for slower speeds because it would probably be hard to control at high speeds. But do you-all think it...
I am increasing the service at my house to accommodate charging for my CT and will install new charger(s). Has anyone heard whether the CT will use a single or dual chargers? I am assuming (perhaps inproperly) that there will be no new chargers or an increase in the maximum amperage for the...
The only news from Tesla and Elon Musk these days seems to be about Starship and Starlink launches. That is all fine and good, but I am dying for news about: (1) what the final CyberTruck features and specs are, (2) when the FSD beta 9 will be released, (3) when we will see a herd of CTs roaming...
Like many if not all others on this forum, I watch the progress at GigaAustin (many thanks to the quad squad and others) very closely. Until April progress was going very well and I my only concerns were for when the 8K-ton gigapresses would arrive and be installed or when the battery cell...
I was out kiteboarding today and it was pretty hot for the pup and I realized that, unlike my SUV, which has maybe 6”-8” of clearance, the CT will be flat underneath and can have much more clearance and the pup can get in the shade there without being stuck inside even with fog mode. He prefers...
I subscribed to updates from the NHTSA on the side mirror/camera ANPRM but there hasn’t seemed to have been any movement. Has anyone else heard anything? I don’t want to start the discussion over which is better, again, but I am very interested in what the government decides. I thought that they...
I know very little about how Tesla makes vehicles. If they were a big automaker I’d expect them to purchase virtually everything for their cars. Being Tesla I expect them to make virtually everything themselves. Seats, motors, batteries. What about the glass, or the wheels, or the monitors...
Elon Musk just announced that there will be no way for current FSD owners to have their license moved to new purchases. For me that means that we will not be upgrading our Model 3 to a Model Y even though we want to. We paid for FSD at $6K on the Model 3 and to lose the difference, or worse, to...
Teslarati posted an image this morning of the Model Y Biodefense HEPA filter in China, behind the frunk and clearly much more accessible than earlier versions. I believe this bodes well for the Cybertruck as its frunk will no doubt be much larger and there will be even more room behind the frunk...
I am looking through my various pix of the Cybertruck and wondering what the size/dimensions of the frunk and rear lockable storage will be. Any guesses? That rear lockable storage looks like it could be 2’x4’. I have no idea about the depth. Also no idea about the frunk.
Any thoughts on the...
I was driving my wife’s Model 3 this evening and it occurred to me that I haven’t seen sun visors or internal overhead lights (or similar interior things) on the CT. Does anyone know how they intend to provide these without messing up that great view?
It just occurred to me that since the glass is so tough, wouldn’t it be wonderful to have an option where the tonneau is made of the stuff? Then we could have a full length skylight in the back! @elon have you thought of that?
Given that we have over a year to wait before even the first CTs roll off the line, I have been occupying my frustration by watching the various drone flybys of the construction at Giga Austin. I see these as increasingly artful and well executed documentaries, and I hope that Tesla sees it that...
Has anyone heard whether the CyberTruck might make an appearance at the stockholders meeting? I have never been to one but I know that companies often like to show off their wares to their stockholders at such meetings, and most of them have never seen the CyberTruck.
We all remember Elon Musk saying, way back at the end of January, regarding Battery Day: “It's gonna blow your mind. It blows my mind, and I know it!". Since then there has been endless hypothesizing about what he meant and what he means to tell us. I am done with that for now because it makes...
For those who were at the unveiling, or rode in the CT, how did the door handles operate and how did the doors work? Was everything manual? Did the door handles work like a new MS or like an M3? Is there any assist when the doors open? Are the doors super heavy? How was the insulation and seals...
I was unable to go to the Petersen to see the Cybertruck in person. For those who have seen it, what are the bumpers and wheel well covers made of? I thought/assumed that the wheel well covers would be some kind of rugged plastic but from the closeup pic I am no longer certain. As for the...
I haven't seen any posts relating to the windows or wiper mechanisms since December. Has Tesla (or anyone) seen updates about these that they forgot to share?
