Given that premise, yes. However I'm not of the same view that there is no aero benefit to the 'diaper'. The OG bumper had a very steep angle to it, which usually isn't a design conducive to reducing drag. That is not to say there won't be a wireless charger, just that I'm not entirely convinced...
Tesla could have certainly been doing their due diligence on the technology and company for years but that doesn’t necessarily mean they had the product in mind for Cybertruck. Particularly when they were at the Alpha design stage which would have been quite a long while ago. It could have been...
I don't see the appeal of it for anything other than Robotaxi applications. I still think it's first and foremost aero driven, the Alpha prototypes had a similar 'diaper' and that was before Tesla's purchase of Wiferion.
That's a bit too exaggerated, the spare could sit closer to the rear...
I appreciate the pixel peeping estimates as much as anyone else but there's a far higher likelihood of those being off than EM, one can't even say it could be a typo on his part because it checks out with the rest of the tweet. Not to mention the Mk1 eyeball test does suggest it being 84" wide...
I'm the first to take any of his forward looking statements with a healthy dose of skepticism but if he explicitly states the prototype at the unveil was 84" wide I'm inclined to take his word for it.
One other thing to keep in mind is how far inset the window is relative to the exterior of the door panel.
Would also avoid having to manufacture both a full size and mid size CT, something I suspect Tesla could be quite keen on.
Width of the original prototype was 84" as stated by Elon.
Space for a hidden winch looks to be there, between the rearward angled radiator and the bottom of the frunk liner there should be enough volume. Would require for Tesla to have baked the mounting provisions into the front end design for it to be a possibility though.
True, I do agree the difference in bed length comes from reclaiming dead space between bed wall and seat back, but you still have to contend with a truck that is 4-5" shorter than an F-150. I'd bet a good chunk of that comes from the second row.
Shorter truck, longer bed. That difference has to come from somewhere.
Similarly, if the front seat sits higher there is more legroom for those at the rear given they can slide their feet under it. The seat base of an F-150 is quite close to the floor, Cybertruck should be better in that...
That's in reference to the Robotaxi and $25k car, not the Cybertruck. The Robotaxi and $25k car will be built on the same line.
"According to Isaacson in another report from Axios, the upcoming robotaxi EV platform is expected to be inspired by the Cybertruck, built on the same architecture as...
