The question I think that needs to be answered, is was it possible to buy a non-FS Cybertruck when the CT owner's manual referenced Auto Steer as part of Basic Autopilot? I get that people assumed it would have it because the other Models did, but it wasn't as much of an issue until you could...
Fairly sure FSD does not increase the cost for purposes of the tax credit. Options like wheels and interior color do. You could always just buy FSD after the fact anyway.
As far as proof of income, it's just your statement. If at tax time, you don't qualify then you have to repay.
Honestly, the 1st bothers me more. I may not personally understand the reasoning or the value behind the 2nd, but I expect accuracy from an auditor. DOGE came in way too fast and loose. It could have done a lot more good and avoided much of the political backlash if it produced verifiable savings.
I'm curious about the wording. The NC DMV originally tried to add the EV fee to my Zero SR (electric motorcycle) registration, but I fought that by quoting the vehicle code that describes a plug in electric vehicle as a four wheeled vehicle. Depending on how they define an EV, I may be on the...
My 1st two Teslas were lighter than the vehicles they replaced. The use of aluminum panels and castings shed weight and if you came from a vehicle of similar performance you swapped a heavy engine for a heavy battery.
My BMW X6M (5375 lbs) -> Model X P100D (5250 lbs)
BMW 335i convertible (4000...
Maybe, we'll see. There are definitely some compelling alternatives, we'll see if Rivian and Lucid become the next Tesla or the next Fisker. It'll also be interesting to see how some of the volume players do in longevity and durability. My 2016 and 2018 Teslas were virtually trouble and...
I know what a promise is, but I've never trusted a salesperson to make a promise without getting it in a contract. Politicians make hollow promises all of the time, I've never put any faith in them and I've certainly never trusted Elon's "promises" of features or timelines.
I've certainly made...
I think Elon has definitely done some brand damage, but I think it will fade over time. Consumers tend be fickle and I think the politics will slowly be forgotten and we'll be back to some of the best EVs currently selling. Yes, other manufacturers are releasing some good EVs, but Tesla still...
Yeah, the comms wire is 16-24 AWG, 4 conductor (2 twisted pairs), shielded wire. Nothing too fancy, but it's not going to be the unshielded wire used for doorbells, door/window sensors or thermostats.
Prior to Powershare installation, I had 2 Gen 2 wall connectors installed. One wired with 6 AWG Cu THHN in conduit, the other with 3 AWG Al NM-B to a 60A disconnect and 4 AWG Cu MC from the disconnect to the wall connector. The 2nd run was ~75', so aluminum was a lot cheaper, but the HPWC...
That's just not the way warranties work. If Tesla replaces your battery at the 7 year mark, you don't get an additional 8 yrs warranty on the new battery. There's a reasonable expectation that the replacement doesn't fail again right away, but the OP provided no information if the replacement...
FSD absolutely cuts too closely in front of trucks, as do many/most drivers. It doesn't matter if you're driving faster and the road ahead is clear, if you need to decelerate for any reason and you're within the safe following buffer for the truck then you've cut in too close.
Lane changes...
You'll be fine. Go to any car forum and you'll find people's nightmares. If you got the vehicle you're afraid of getting, you'd lemon it. And it definitely isn't 10% of trucks with issues.
I don't see where I said the idea was easy or practical to execute in the Cybertruck post-design, I said it's what is needed in a vehicle intended for towing. I had a BMW i3 REX for a month or two as a loaner and it was a decent vehicle. Full EV drive train, the generator was just there to top...
They drew really odd lines on the base options. It would have made far more sense for white or grey to be a $2,000 option and textile or plastic to be the base. Likewise with tires, AT Cyber or AS Core should have been $3,500 and steel AS the base. I can't imagine there's any significant...
Towing really calls out for a gas, diesel or propane range extender. A generator small enough to provide the cruising kW would be all that you need, let the main battery handle the load of acceleration or uphill travel. Could probably double the range with 5-6 gallons of fuel.
That was my thought as well, you can certainly power a UPS from the bed outlets. The biggest issue is going to be getting one big enough to handle the load when the compressors turn on and last long enough. Another option would be a rigging up a small transfer switch, power from the outlets...
