I find the idea of speculators ("flippers") the unique twist in all this Cybertruck discussion. I'm pretty sure that never, in the history of production automobiles has there been this degree of steady appreciation of a newly purchased vehicle. The wife and I bought Tesla's (MY,M3) in 2021 that...
From transaction processing, to auto engineer to rocket engineer to social engineer (some intentionally omitted for brevity).
That's an Interesting career path. Perhaps the Peter Principle is about to kick in.
On a side note, I find the nickname Muskrat very compelling for some reason.
As a service to fellow reservation holders, I feel obligated to let the cat out of the bag. One of my neighbor's housekeeper said that a friend of hers, who used to work at Tesla, said that CyberTruck prices would be inflation adjusted at "official launch" plus an additional 5% for any high...
Most of the criticism involves the Cybertruck exoskeleton and rolled stainless skin being too strong thus posing a threat to pedestrians and occupants alike. I think it's an absurd argument and the true motivation is that Tesla represents an existential threat to all ICE auto manufacturers. They...
If as this and other articles suggest the EU will require modifications in the CT design due to regulatory safety concerns. Right now, Tesla has more orders than they can deliver in a reasonable time frame and I believe Tesla will tell them to pack sand. No special CT version for you EU...
@Ibrahim
With over 1.2M reservation holders in the US, Tesla is not likely to modify the CT so that it can pass muster in Europe. At their current production rates and considering shipping costs and import tariffs, Rivian won't be an option for quite a while if ever. Ford is still miles away...
Did you pre-order a CT? Made in China Tesla's went to Europe and the US demonstrates that shipping while slow and costly isn't out of the question. It's all about meeting demand and avoidance of tariffs. The fact that Giga Texas and Giga Berlin (smaller facility) opened at approx the same time...
I don't imagine Europe as much as visit there quite often although not since Covid. Good for Sweden for following the American lead and finally building an ICE based pickup truck to replace the little beauty pictured below. Well done Sweden ... ;-)
Rather than debate this, lets see if Giga...
The Livewire team designed one of my favorite ebikes (see below). It's not for off road but it is a great bike for 40 mile trail rides. HD seems to understand the the end is nigh for ICE and they are making some serious moves in that direction. Good for them and I'd like a Livewire but honestly...
Musk being on the earnings call yesterday was interesting due to all the Twitter goings on. Many thought he'd sit this one out but he made a clear statement that the Cybertruck will reach full production status in 2023. With the Giga factories quickly ramping up, he has good reason for his...
WIth the exoskeleton the bed will most likely be part of that and so SS with a liner. I would assume the structural battery pack would be under the passenger area eg low and as close to centered as possible (between front and rear motors) for proper weight distribution.
Agreed, anchor points integrated into the truck bed channels for securing stuff would be good. Making them position adjustable would be even better. For me it will be luggage and stuff in the covered protected bed and a bike rack on the hitch for hauling alternate transportation. In my case the...
The "load stop" is is an ideal aftermarket type product. No need to integrate this into the CT. All that powered, hinged, folding shit just complicates the build, adds cost, weight and impacts reliability. My guess, for the core truck Tesla will use the KISS principle along with the ever present...
An additional financial commitment once production has started and, you're required to finalize your Cybertruck details is specific, not random or intermittent.
I can't recall a time when Model Y orders "flagged" (lagged?) and my Model Y test drive and subsequent order were not prompted by an...
Umm, I know you know this but just for the purpose of clarity, Tesla doesn't advertise anything and only the Cybertruck and Roadster have reservations as did the original Model 3's. All current production Tesla's are place an order, lock in a price and accept delivery when scheduled. Those are...
Not sure where you or electrek got the order fee information but I just reviewed our Order and loan documents for the Model Y and Model 3 ordered in 2021 (June and Oct respectively). The order fee for each car was $100. That fee wasn't paid until delivery.
I see what you're talking about if...
Where did you hear/read that?
In any case, I just re-watched Sandy Monroe and his wifes gushing review of their Rivian RT. It is a cool looking and by all accounts, it's the best of the EV pickups now available for order (if not delivery). But as the boys from the Now You Know Youtube channel...
