I think they are just building excitement around the start of production and would wager we will see many more wrapped CT with some bold color and designs and some stealth ones too to get us hyped!
I think that one looks great even though not my cup of tea.
Answer to OP question from 5 pages of words.
Tesla will make them, if not enough then some from suppliers. End result plenty of batteries from somewhere. Close thread! Bye..
I'm sure they have hundreds of applicants a week...not to hard to find ppl. But I'm sure they are pulling their best from Y line to work CT line. Those ppl were already trained once and will understand what it takes to build a vehicle from scratch, any new ppl on CT line would prob do the super...
I don't think they will be 4680 cell constrained by the time Cybertruck hits 5k/ week by end of next year. Pricing will definitely reflect demand, and by early 2025 there will be multiple 4680 factories online in the US. I do believe pricing will be the deciding factor if the CT flops.
I'm...
I believe a lot of ppl will ask for their money back when the prices are revealed. Hopefully they release a good leasing program for CT. Demand won't be there for long after the initial noterierity wears off if prices are in the $75k+ range.
I've definitely noticed over the past year Elon has been smarter about not releasing pricing or production estimates or deadlines. He's been very vague at every meeting. But can't wait to get final numbers.
Yes when I'm mentioning first edition for $100k....I'm talking about:
Quad motor
4 wheel steering
500 mile range
Air suspension
Power tonneau w/ solar
0 - 60 ≤ 2.5
SS body
Compared to competition that pricing looks spot on.
Elon has always said the more expensive version will be released first...and typically this is standard practice.
I don't believe Elon will care too much about negative press about an amazing product that cost more than he predicted back in 2019. He doesn't have a crystal ball and no one could...
I think he will release a $100k "First Edition" CT with all the bells and whistles. I think he can sell 5000+ of these for the first 6 months np. Get them out in the wild and ppl will see them more and hopefully have a cheaper $70-75k truck out by middle of next year that qualifies for $7500 tax...
Just would like to add that designers, engineers, builders are usually all separate but obviously needs to work together. But design comes first...engineers make that design feasible if possible
..then builders build it. Usually the design will stay the same but it's the engineers that improve...
I think the high cost will mainly be the features promised. It's all expensive features on any vehicle:
- Super strong power tonneau cover
- automatic ride high adjustment
- stainless steel exterior
- armored glass
- AWD
- Power Frunk
- Built in compressor
- Autopilot HW4
- 4 Wheel steering
-...
My big take away about CT...Elon was beating around the bush and did reiterate the first units are prob not going to be affordable and getting them affordable will be hard.
"... Hard to make the cost affordable.."
My take is that he will try to push the price to $80k to make it the most...
Or they could mean C for Cybertruck so workers don't get confused on what they're looking at...that's what i would do to specify which castings is which. Definitely looking forward to the prototypes out of Austin. Looks to be right on time for production timeline given.
Maybe they have to put the hot casting on metal pallets for cooling. But these definitely look like they are test castings. I bet we will see real beta prototypes by next month. Woo!
