10,000+ Miles Driving a Cybertruck – Things learned: range, great sound and full love/hate list after 10k miles

This makes no sense. If they could have increased range in a cost effective manner they would have. Seems obvious that the 4680 density is not improving as quickly as hoped. The "range extender" monstrosity which still doesn't hit 500 miles is proof of this, they can't even fit 470 miles of...

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

This is the reason I'd like to have the option, they could put a time limit in place.

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Yes the drip lubrication gets pulled into the drive gear/driven gear interface in forward but pushed away in reverse but I'd still think there would be enough lube to allow higher than 15mph limit. Maybe there is but they don't want to take the chance of allowing it in case some people overdo...

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Interesting, an electronic pump should not be affected by reverse at all.

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Here is a good look at the oiling system of the small Tesla drive unit. It's upside down in the video. Should start at the 4:07 mark:

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

I expect there is still some splash lubrication going on, (hence my desire for a temporary override of the speed limit), but Tesla obviously felt a pressurized system provided more protection.

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Its not as if the oil on the gears and bearings evaporates, there should be enough residual for low speed reverse, and millions of Teslas on the road prove this. In most normal driving it's not an issue but off road is one use case where higher reverse speeds can be important.

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

There are videos of it being limited to 15mph in reverse. "The only race in which the Raptor R claims an easy victory is in reverse. It seems Tesla limits the Cybertuck reverse speed to 15 miles per hour, " https://insideevs.com/news/700268/tesla-cybertruck-dirt-race-ford-f-150-raptor-pavement/

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Not exactly, high powered mud boggers fly through mud because they have the torque and tire speed to fling enough mud with the tires to generate thrust, same thing applies to a truck stuck in mud with good off road tires.

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

Except that the limit is in place to keep the gears from turning at high speeds because the gear driven oil pump doesn't work in reverse. Vehicle speed doesn't really matter if that is the case, it's the wheel speed. Plus I assume Tesla measures vehicle speed by wheel speed not GPS. Certainly...

Disapointed With 15mph Reverse Speed Limit

This was one thing I had hoped would not carry over from the other models. I wonder if there is a way to over ride it temporarily? The reason being is I've been in situations off road in mud when high tire speed in reverse kept me from being stuck in a hole or mud pit. I know it's a...

Tesla MOLLE Panels & Divider installed in Cybertruck bed! 😍

In my current truck I use an adjustable cargo bar. Easy, fast, takes up almost no space when not in use. Something like this:

First Cybertruck crash accident -- head on collision w/ Toyota Corolla

I guess you missed the part where Tesla engineers said they were able to engineer the material to meet the specs of the original 3mm thickness in thinner material?

Actually it looks like a pressed sheet metal piece spot welded to the casting

First Cybertruck crash accident -- head on collision w/ Toyota Corolla

Yes it does appear that way, this screen cap of the rear casting does not show those flanges on the main casting so they must be glued or welded in place afterwards. That suggests a relatively straight forward repair for this crash. Source video:

First Cybertruck crash accident -- head on collision w/ Toyota Corolla

What are the thoughts about repairs for this accident? I'm wondering if the fender flanges on the cast frame are bent or cracked can they be fixed, and if not, does that mean the entire rear casting would need replacing?

Check out the rear legroom, storage space w/ back seats folded up, and huge glass roof

Having worked with trucks that had caps for years where side access was never an option I can say the boat hook is very useful but other items can also work well, brooms, shovels, rakes, etc., and adjustable cargo dividers can keep objects from sliding around, useful in any truck. My current...

You don't have to run 35 inch tires on the CT, just like you don't have to run 32 inch tires on the Ford.

Taller tires = taller bed height. Same truck running 30 inch tires will have a lower bed height than running 44 inch tires.
