Can you provide any pointers/info on these vendor solutions? I'm interested in this space of outfitting a CT (and even Model Y) for emergency service duty.
Aluminum bronze alloy to stamp stainless steel.. man these guys are pushing hard on the materials science research.
An interesting snippet from this morning's video. Not sure when it was filmed, but they said they've stamped 1,000-1,200 of each part so far.. so that's how many CT's have been...
1.4mm is 17 gauge. 1.8mm is 15 gauge. Not all that thick, but definitely a bit thicker than standard non-load-bearing panels.
A. Elon does occasionally say things that are incorrect.

I'm really happy to see this, as a shareholder and future CT owner.
Shareholder = less material, lower COGS, 80% efficiency in stamping (/lasing) out parts. Front casting at 6,500 tons, using smaller gigapress, is great for cost and speed.
Owner = amazing safety with less weight, lower cost to...
I still haven't ordered my Foundation. Wrestling with paying $100k+ for a DM on a truck that was supposed to be really cheap due to manufacturing breakthroughs, and buying a bunch of options I have little interest in. Kinda want to be the first on the block with a CT, but kinda don't want all...
I'm just happy that it's finally being produced. Tesla will tweak it over time and lower the cost. As a shareholder, I'm happy that they're capturing the value generated by all this demand. It's clear from their flipping clause in the contract that they see a ton of upside potential and don't...
I agree and am not happy about Musk's rhetoric. This is NOT the correct kind of advertising. It's going to mean that owners need to keep a gun with them inside the vehicle to respond to yahoos out there.
