You could try offering a further deposit (non-refundable) and asking for a week or two to arrange to get the balance, during which time the seller can display your CT.
I've not heard of any maker that cancels the delivery charge to customers who pick up their vehicle right from the assembly line. And if Tesla does that, I'll -- well I don't know what I'd do but it doesn't matter because there's no chance.
Not sure about Canadian lighting regs, but do know that every printed word (labels on car, electronic display, owners manual (if supplied) -- all wording -- has to be shown or made available in French as well as English. And Quebec authorities might insist that vehicles sold there must have...
One school of thought says not for ages. Evidence: not a peep about prices, models, availability. Maybe Tesla is concerned about a backlash, such as over the Canadian cost, or from problems with the Canadian winter, such as range, or opening the door when ice-covered.
Alternately, the...
Further to your last note, don't forget that Tesla converts to Canadian with any formula it decides, then adds over $1000 for delivery. To that total, Canada adds 13% taxes -- plus another 10% tax on the amount over C$100k. So I expect the C$ price for the dual to be at least $150,000.
If most of those bypassing the single-motor did so only because they need 4WD, maybe Tesla would offer a 4WD single -- in order to offer a low-cost model.
What makes everybody think that the CTs will go to reservers in the order of their reservation number? There are two variables other than reservation number that could determine timing.
One variable will be what models will come off the line earliest (although a buyer could agree to accept an...
"In Canada, you do have to replace these stickers and manuals when you sell it ...."
Once a vehicle is admitted to the country, I'm unaware of any federal statutory requirements on selling it. Registering/licencing it is provincial. In my province, Ontario, that requires only a safety...
I heard of a case (which I cannot verify): an owner of a US-purchased new car was refused Canadian importation (in Ontario) because it did not contain an owners manual in French. (He got one, and was admitted on the next try by a customs guy who didn't ask for it.)
The early production could be high because the CT was designed around an efficient assembly line more than was the case with other models (so I've heard). Or low because of component shortages and unexpected glitches with such a unique model. And because the CT will be competing with two other...
"... being to market with a few thousand trucks in 2022 won’t make a ton of difference one way or the other."
No, each of those first few thousand will act like 100 of them in terms of publicity. We will read of early owners being offered double. Of automotive journalists offering huge sums to...
Did Musk say he hoped that building them would start in 2023? If so, they won't be rolling out to those on the list (non-employees) until 2024, and for locations beyond north-west states, deliveries might start in 2025.
By then I'll be long gone. Oh well, nice idea while it lasted.
"Your new Cybertruck, configured as you specified, is awaiting your payment and pickup at your local Tesla facility."
I expect that message to arrive to my inbox shortly after I die of old age.
FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES:
As in some other states, Texas has long had laws to protect car dealers by barring automakers, including Tesla, from selling directly to consumers. California, the company’s biggest market by far, has long allowed the company to sell cars directly to buyers, which lets...
Let me expand Crissa's point.
"Here's how to defeat that no-good political party in the next election." That's political, and I agree that such comment does not belong on this site.
"How to ensure that the Canadian list price of the Tesla you buy does not exceed C$100,000." That's not...
