Updates are pushed not pulled. By checking the screen it just checks if you are in the the que. Some times the que can be long and checking it will start the download if you are in the que. In seven years of Tesla ownership I think I only ever had one update trigger by checking the software screen.

but that's because you're not compulsive about it lol. when FSD was expanded for wider release back in Dec 2022, I started checking compulsively for updates and continue to do so when a new version is on the horizon. I would estimate maybe half of my dozen or so updates across my Teslas have. been triggered by checking the software screen.

I just got it half hour ago and now I'm testing it out. I found a parking lot with a giant 18-in curb. I will see how close I get to it Will be posting pictures.

EDIT-Wow. WAAAAY off. Pulled up to a very high curb and the truck said STOP about 42 inches from the curb.

I found a lower curb and it said STOP 24 inches away from the curb.
This is blurry but didn't realize it till i got home. Trust me, it is 24"

Correct. And I have same experience since 2016. Mostly wasting your time checking.

IMHO, don't lose any sleep over waiting for this update. It is not that important or life changing. I did not try backing into a spot, maybe that is better, according to some other owners but with all the cameras, it is very easy to pull into a parking spot with out it.

That screen from Not a Tesla App is stale. If you go to the TeslaFi site itself it is up to 42% of the fleet. It started rolling out Wednesday of this week.
