masochist?

if you plan to tow a large airstream any distance, there are presently no non-imaginary vehicles to buy from “another brand.”

Otherwise, like many people, 95% of my driving is ‘around town,” zero towing of anything material, and 100% non-masochist.

It’s a weird trope this idea that BEV owners can’t possibly deal with non-Tesla charging infra

You might want to actually pay attention to just how bad EA is. Not uncommon at all for 3 out of 4 chargers to be out of order. A F150L needing a tow on second road trip is nothing I will sign up for.

great - then don’t sign up! (Not that you could get one of you wanted)

I’ve paid plenty of attention, it’s just that it doesn’t matter much at all to me or many other buyers - not because we’re dumb or ‘masochistic’ but because it’s irrelevant to our use cases

I was only saying that it is a bit silly/nonsensical for you to purport that anyone buying a BEV from a company other than Tesla is “masochistic”

In fact, if you want to use a F150L to tow a full sized airsteam through a charging desert I say you get what you deserve (not to mention a lot of clicks on your webpage-livelihood)

How many times do you actually have to charge at another charge station if you do city driving and can charge overnight at home? In my case 90% of my country driving would be charged at home, if I had a useable 400km range. But in saying that our charging network here is abysmal.

I would prefer to head West first, and work my way around the south coast between Adelaide and Perth. It just looks beautiful. And then North from Perth, just amazing.

But the charging infrastructure is abysmal, and I will be heading East in year 1.

26,000 CT ordered in AU?... The West better hurry up.

Yea, a terrible place... one can see why the East side with its sea of tourists lining the beaches is more attractive.

Should be ready just in time for Aussie CT deliveries in 2024.... ;)

Its's something at least, between 75/150kW and 42 of statewide on some 3500km of highway with no further than 200km between chargers. I wonder what Horizon thinks about running those on their dinky micro grids of which more than half of them will be installed on according to the map. $21m for 42 chargers is $500,000ea. Expect more diesel gensets to be installed to run them out there. Lol.

Great Update tx. I knew about it , but the article confirms the timeline.

Musk said he intends to grow the charging network by 30% per year.

We have about 60 stations ATM, one could tavel from Melbourne to Rockhamption.

The next 50 Tesla locations should fil the gaps around AU by end 24.

I'd say similar stories apply around the world.

by 2026.. which is less than 4 years away, the EV story will write a new chapter.

no ,I made it up. But Elon did say he wants to increase the network 30% per year.

It follows at 30% compounding growth per year..
I allow extra for the model Y launch, and I considered Elon saying he was surprised by the popularity of the Y in AU. Plus we apparently have 26,000 CT on order.

Firstly they build a few locations in the city and surrounding suburbs, then new installations network about 150k apart between cities.

Over the last 12 months superchargers sprung up around Adelaide, and I think about 3 locations now in Perth.

So I figure the next linkage is between Melbourne , to Adelaide to Perth.

I recently worked out that building out the Supercharging network @30% is almost self funding.

I think with Car sales growing at 50% we may see extra funds allocated to the network growing it even faster.
