I recently had my cybertruck totaled. I posted with video here a few weeks ago. The shop dragging their ass made me miss out on the ev rebate. If you lease now you get 6,500 off. Does anyone know if Tesla will let you add steel bumpers and a winch without voiding the warranty?

Not 100% positive as I’ve never leased a Tesla and don’t know what their lease agreements say, but I would give that a very hard no.

I have traded in a used Tesla for a new one and they want it in factory condition. They took some money off for my wrap because they had to remove it before reselling it.

Customizations are likely in your lease agreement somewhere. Take a look and let us know.

I would imagine that as long ad you were able to return it to oem when returned it shouldnt matter? But the risk is damaging something in the swap. I also have no idea how the after market bumpers compare to oem in terms of crash performance, which is the whole point of a bumper… could a more rigid bumper transmit more force into the structure of the truck? Those pillars are meant to crush under compression so id consider that before switching

Why not lease it then buy out the lease?

Are you lease to own? Otherwise you’re going to spend the same amount of money to replace OEM at turn in

Tesla cannot 'void warranty' as a blanket statement due to adding a steel bumper. They can only void warranty on items 'directly proven related to the part you replace'. So they wont warranty the bumper, obviously, if you change it.

I’d only add major aftermarket items if I owned it. Tesla will take your leased vehicle back but they can charge you for stuff that is not OEM.

Keep the original bumper and simply swap. Or if it's not worth the hassle, you can make mods, but they may charge for mods on trade. I have leased a bunch of cars. Sometimes I have bought them out. Sometimes I have returned them. Most of the time I have simply exercised the buyout on trade if I have positive equity. Otherwise, I would return to stock and sell the parts if I were to return it.
