You don’t need the holiday update for that. All you need to do is hit the microphone button and say ho ho ho. It’s already in your CT it’s just not properly implemented in toybox. The holiday update is going to give you some little tweaks but it’s been there all along.
I love my reindeer and elves! Wanna keep them till July! I put them on full screen to freak passengers out! Doesn’t take much in Miami to entertain us! The elves even have swim suits on when in Miami Beach.

I didn't know about "ho ho ho". That's much better than "Turn on Santa mode" that I have been using.

I believe the Holiday Update for CT will also update the sleigh and such to be a "Cyber" themed sleigh instead of the model Y or whatever it is today w/ the "ho ho ho" activation.

I just want the reindeer legs to move rather than sliding around like they are on skates :)

They do sometimes. I got kind of excited when I saw a reindeer pumping his legs the first time. Not sure about the circumstances. Much of the time they do just slide. A young rider in the front seat spotted elves for the first time in my truck. That was a fun moment.

it’s not about which car or hardware you’re on, it’s about which firmware/FSD your individual vehicle is on.

If you’re ahead of the FSD version that ships with it you don’t get it. My Model X and my Model S Plaid are both on FSD v12.5.6.4 (which is the newest version of v12) that’s firmware 2024.33.40⁩. And my CT, just like yours, is firmware 2024.39.5; FSD v12.5.5.3.

As I said above, if your firmware/FSD version is ahead of what’s going out in the holiday update it doesn’t matter whether you have a S3XY or CT you will not be getting that update.

Think of it this way, you will never have both the latest and greatest FSD and the holiday update. It never works that way.

Choose one! Dirty Tesla nodded at this fact in one of his recent videos when he got v13. He noted that, “well I’m not going to have the holiday update but I’ll trade that for v12.x or v13 any day.” He knew immediately that he was not going to get the holiday update (and still does not have it) because it’s only coming out for those who are on FSD v12.5.4.2 or lower.

So it’s not about what car you have it’s about what firmware is stable enough/widespread enough or whatever I don’t know the exact criteria that is existent when they start working on/finish the holiday update.

This is the way it always works (when they add new features) people are just more keenly aware of it when the holiday update comes out because everybody wants to get it.

But you can take this to the bank: if there is a cool update that comes out on Teslas and your firmware version is ahead of where that update launches, you will not have it first and the further out you’re ahead, generally the longer you’ll have to wait.

There may be some nuances that I have wrong, but this is 100% been my experience and understanding of that experience since 2019.
Very good explanation.

For those of us who are in the software development / release world, it makes sense to us but it doesn’t to the majority of owners.

I'm just curious of what "holiday" we will get the holiday update for our CTs. :)
Groundhog day?
12/22 shhhh ?

don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but that’s the tentative date for CT rollout ?
?
Has anyone activated santa mode
oh yeah! I did as soon as I found out about it and just leave it in Santa mode. Nothing funnier then reindeer flying by on the highway or all crowding around while sitting at a red light in traffic!

Just be careful. The back end of your truck sticks out much further than the back of the sleigh on the visualizer.
Agree. I take it out of Santa Mode if I'm parking or doing other tight maneuvers. Not a one-to-one representation currently.

It’s not just CT, if you’re ahead of the FSD version built into the holiday update, you’re not going to get it until they produce a version with your FSD build or higher. Same as it ever was.

The holiday update (branch 2024.44.25.2) is pushing out FSD v12.5.4.2. If you’re ahead of that (and we all are - v12.5.5.3), no soup for you! Yet.

If past is prologue though, it’s really unusual for them to not get all branches set up with the holiday update before the new year starts.

Thanks for that information I did not know.
