On my first road trip in the cybertruck I was quite concerned about diminishing arrival state of charge which I did experience in my 2021 model Y. I had to reduce speed from 75 to 65 to make it.
So on this trip I carefully watched the arrival SOC. At first during the long stretch of speed limit of 60 mph across the city interstate I saw it go down from 20% to 18. "Oh boy" I thought, I'll never make it when the speed limit increases from 60mph to 75. But amazingly at 75+ mph the SOC gradually went back up to 20% then 21, 22, and and 23. On the return trip the same thing happened, arrival destination SOC increased from 20% to 26. Has anyone else observed this?

BTW amazingly this 350 mile road trip needed only a 15 minute charging stop. That's less time than the round trip walk to the rest room at Bucee's.

come to find out city freeway driving consumes more than open hi way. Was told years ago because of regen braking city driving was less expensive than hi way.

When you begin a drive, go slow as being aggressive at the beginning drains the battery disproportionately. Once everything is warmed up and good, say around 10 miles or so, you can pick up the pace. This method will increase your range on roadtrips.

It calculates that range based on many things, including speed limit. If the speed limit increases, it doesn’t mean that the arrival will charge will drop. Wind plays a huge factor, and it’s good at predicting wind, but not perfect. I get most of my arrival charge droppage during strong wind.

I usually drive 5-9 over, and keep the arrival at 10%, if it drops to 9 I go down a mile and keep lowering until it goes back up. If it gets to 6%, I’ll start drafting behind semis, it always works.
