Hello all, I just took delivery today of my dual motor Cybertruck and it's phenomenal (ordered feb 24th) and a topic I've tried to find a definite answer for a long time on is auto washes. It just rained today and I get free touchless washes at a place, but I have mixed signals on whether it's fine or not.

For longevity of the stainless steel is the alkaline/acidic soap touchless washes use fine for ct? Claude says the passivation layer should take it and regenerate almost immediately so theres no damage since its a brief exposure. And I have read people in here said they used a touchless wash on their 2024 for the last 2 years with no issue but it may be one that uses neutral soap, I don't know. And some say it's terrible for the stainless especially for very long term ownershio.

Is there a truth anyone just has for me about this?

This has been resolved for a long time now - it's totally fine.
Have used my local carwash nearly weekly since delivery.
No issues, looks like new.
No clue what soap they use, the ph or anything else.

Just don't get the tire shine as it tends to fly off the tires at speed and leave greasy dots on panels.

My first post! 😃 My Beast was ordered online on July 6 and I picked it up at my local dealership on July 18, crazy fast!
What about car washes with mitter curtains(drapes) that slide across vehicle to scrub? I currently have a local monthly unlimited plan with them and was wondering if I should keep it for the CyberTruck?

First - consider doing entire truck with Pan the Organizer’s 8 Year Ceramic coating. I followed ALL steps described in Out of Spec’s YouTube video. This changes SS surface into the easiest cleaned, most durable finish ever. I cannot recommend this highly enough! -

Second - with the above, a simple rinse off and (Costco) microfiber wipe down may be all you need = fewer carwashes. I use a light diluted Ceramic Detail Spray (Tec582) as a rinse topper, which makes the surface even more hydrophobic as well as finger/hand print resistant.

Third - Grok’s answer to brushless vs brushed carwashes: Brushless or touchless is the safer bet. Brushes can drag grit across the stainless and leave micro-scratches, even if you wipe it down after. If you do go through one, a quick detail spray wipe afterward helps. However, hand washing with soft water at home is better. Grok cautioned to not use ceramic detail spray on uncoated SS surfaces.

Only issue ever had with automatically that pull ya thru. If have wheel covers on, sometimes they will pop them off when against the railing.

non issues, with my cyberbeasts
i take mine daily, watch out for the wheel covers, the wheel covers rubber degrades with the tire shine, then you got a real mess when they come apart on the highway and whack the fender wells and plastic trim, i got my service center to replace both passenger side fender trim front and rear and 4 new cyber wheel covers

It’s not fine people. The washes rip up the sail plastic trim.

If you are using them, the front wheel caps can be knocked off/damaged on the carwash guide rails. I have personally had it happen twice, so now I just remove the front driver side one before entering. I wipe it down by hand afterward in the vacuum area.

Pro Tip: Have a pair of gloves in the truck to remove the covers, they get covered in black dust.
