Automatic Emergency Braking, do we have it yet?

The other day while stopped at a light I reached for something on the floor and accidently hit the accelerator. My truck lunged towards the car in front of me and my foot got stuck under the accelerator. I was shocked that the Cybertruck didn't apply the brakes for me or even beep. I stopped a millimeter off of the bumper of the car in front of me. My Cybertruck was going to let me plow into the car in front of me. Has Automatic Emergency Braking not been released yet?

I swear my CT has stopped for me once... I tried and the break lever had no weight behind it and my truck had stopped just prior. It beeped and the car in front of me was tinted red on my monitor. Seemed like it had it. Also first Tesla, so I don't have anything to compare it too.

Maybe he meant his foot got stuck under the brakes while pressing accelerator?

The option is in the menu but I have not tested it yet. It's called Obstacle-Aware Acceleration . It should prevent you from accelerating into a stationary object in front of you. I don't know if Tesla's implementation does this but most will override this functionality if you floor the accelerator. The reason is you might need to ram your way through something for your safety.

Yup emergency breaking works now. I was flying down the interstate a couple of weeks ago when out of nowhere it slammed on breaks and displayed some message and tone on the screen. I was trying to figure out what was going on when out of nowhere I see this folding chair in the middle of the lanes… the CT‘s vision system saw it WAY before I did and it was even at dusk with headlights on. Been driving Tesla for 6 years and first time I remember that ever happening and I was very impressed.

The attached video is after the car had already slowed way down.

It happened quickly so yes, it may have been the brake that my foot was stuck under. I found this about Obstacle-Aware Acceleration and I confirmed that it is on in my truck. Using their example baffles me as to why it would allow me to hit the garage door. I understand Your point about an emergency situation and needing to ram your way through something but unless you are a bounty hunter the situation is more likely accidental acceleration.
Obstacle-Aware Acceleration
Obstacle-Aware Acceleration is designed to reduce the impact of a collision by reducing motor torque and in some cases applying the brakes, if Cybertruck detects an object in its driving path. The displays a visual warning and sounds a chime when the brakes are automatically applied. For example, Cybertruck, while parked in front of a closed garage door with Drive engaged, detects that you have pressed hard on the accelerator pedal. Although Cybertruck still accelerates and hits the garage door, the reduced torque may result in less damage.
Obstacle-Aware Acceleration is designed to operate only when all of these conditions are simultaneously met:

• Drive or Reverse is engaged.
• Cybertruck is stopped or traveling less than 10 mph (16 km/h).
• Cybertruck detects an object in its immediate driving path.

To disable Obstacle-Aware Acceleration, touch Controls > Autopilot > Obstacle-Aware Acceleration.
Warning
Obstacle-Aware Acceleration is designed to reduce the severity of an impact. It is not designed to avoid a collision.
