This is pretty rad, this guy made a range extending trailer for his EV out of a scrapyard battery. He uses it on a RAV 4 and on a Model X.
This first video shows a lot of the stuff he did to make this thing work. In the beginning, you see the end, built up trailer, then he meets up with another video caster and shows him how he did the base trailer.
In this later video heās using the trailer on doing a range test on a Model X with the trailer built up as a camping teardrop.
This is pretty awesome. Seems to do a lot better than what Iād figured. Heās pretty smart about keeping the profile of the trailer low and in the slipstream of the cars.
I would absolutely love a commercial version of this for $20-30k. Heās managed to bodge it together for less than $10k from the sounds of it. Iām pretty stoked about his towing results in general, makes me think the Cybertruck will be pretty good with a lower aero trailer.
