The old wife's tale that Supercharging is worse than Level II charging needs to die. Charge using Level II or Level III when you need to, the BMS manages battery life. It just doesn't matter to any significant degree.
Most loss is from calendar degradation, so cycles won't matter much (either L2 or L3 charging).

How convenient it would be if DC Fast Charging was no different than L2 at home, huh?

Alas.

I have a personal rule of not arguing with folks over the internet, and so I won't here. The great thing is people can believe whatever they want; and they can do whatever they like.

I'll just offer two things before bowing out of the discussion... we're still very early days with the Cybertruck. But not far down the road we'll begin to see, more and more, threads and rants and "Is This Normal" questions regarding pack deterioration. A few years from now this forum will be full of that.

And like many things in life, those who end up with the short stick will want to blame anything other than their own choices and decisions.

The behavior of Lithium-chemistry batteries - how they behave, how they age, and how they die - is not a mystery. My recommendation to anyone truly interested is to pay a whole lot less attention to information coming out of YouTube, or folks on a forum like this - me included - and pay a lot more attention to the actual scientific peer-reviewed studies where all these questions has been examined in detail. The white papers are out there.

Wishing everyone long miles and minuscule deterioration.

Higher temperatures are better for operational use, but lower temperatures reduce calendar degradation while not in use.

Of course, there is little you can do about the temperature.
That's what the Battery Management System is for. If the battery is colder than optimum it will heat the pack, if it's too warm it will cool it.

That said, the discussion was focused on charging, not long term storage or operational temps. But you are correct in all respects.

What a bunch of BS. The white papers you refer to do not use battery management systems that heat and cool the batteries. You are misusing science to create incorrect narratives.

The real proof is real-world data from vehicles that have been mostly home charged vs. those that have been charged almost exclusively on Superchargers.

The data is available, and it's a lot more relevant than white papers done in a laboratory setting.

2% over 11.5k. Normal, estimate 10% Supercharging vs level 2.
