@hemiarch its also 1/3 the price of my original idea and looks better! good that its at L-track height on its side so long as you have a t-mat. (inigo montoya voice: “…which I have!”)
Yep. It’s exactly that height which makes it easy to secure even without the t-mat. I have two of those Costco value pack Velcro cable holder ties on loops on there which and just slide the legs into them (leg side goes in first) .It goes nowhere even with the bed empty. Other side is held by the closed tailgate.

That also holds it just enough it doesn’t go anywhere when you slide out the t-mat but not so much it offers resistance.

Horror Fright, err... I mean Habor Freight sells a handle style carabiner for $3.99.

I would not allow my family and friends to put their weight and safety upon a $4 Habor Freight item. That says it’s not to used for weight-bearing/climbing. But that’s just me.

Yeah, I just grab it. It's more floppy than ideal, but it's enough to get me up on the tailgate w/o fuss.

Yes, an actual handle would be superior. Didn't see anything at cybertruckco, did find these on Amazon. Price seems steep, might shop around before pulling the trigger. Adding a handle of some sort to that would be straight forward.
Maybe just a rope handle could work.

I have four D-rings in my L track. I would put one on each side of the rear attachment points.

Hey. That’s a really good idea. You could run a ratchet strap between two attachments on the end of the l-track closest to the tailgate and that would give you a nice long handle that’s stiff/under tension.
Advantage of that would be no aerodynamic impact, spans the length of the entire tailgate and easy to take off if you need to load something large.

That's great for getting OUT... hehe... But I wouldn't want to drop from the top of a 12-15 foot pole into the bed unless it has a really thick air mattress... hehe...

Would really be great if someone could come up with a step that attaches to the tailgate that could be used when tailgate is down...

I can already just climb up on the bumper and over the tailgate and THEN put the tailgate down if needed, but would be nicer to just have a step that was about 18" lower than the tailgate when it's 'open/down'...

Or I will just get a milk crate... hehe...

Something like Fords integrated tailgate step would have been ideal since they didn't do the loading ramp. I did see someone retrofitting a Ford tailgate step into their rivian but that's farther then I want to go
