I am going to give them tonight to respond otherwise I may just go the chargeback route and see where that gets me. I ordered like $500 worth of stuff like 2 weeks ago. Got the mirror first and the 3d printed cap in two separate shipments on different days. The 2 cheap items said they shipped more than a week ago but still don’t have them and I ordered the lighted door sill magnet strips and they haven’t even shipped yet. Suffice it to say I don’t think I will be ordering from Tessstudio again and especially if they don’t make this right.
Crazy that they are still shipping this knowing all of the issues. I made a video for them it was even promoted on their website but I removed the video as I don't want to be associated with this product. I noticed that other reviewers are still promoting it SMH.

I actually saw your video and you actually mentioned the error in the video. No one else mentions it at all, but you see it on their screen.

I will say Hansshow is coming out with a new one that looks very interesting. But it also taps into that same power source:

Yes and they are sending me one but I am not installing it. I am no longer installing any electronics that require modifying or tapping into the factory systems, with the exception of the lightbar power in roof.

I think I’m in the same boat. I do not want to break a 100k truck for a 200 dollar accessory

I am guessing the reason is so that it can turn on when the truck is on but I would be fine with something that either can turn off because there is a sensor to determine if the truck is moving or someone is in it or even if I had to turn it off on manually. A closed system with just power seems fine to me.

yes I was exploring wiring mine to the USB-C for power but that doesn't fix the overheating issue. just too many issues to deal with.

So I haven’t had the overheating issue yet but I live in Phoenix. How does that play out/manifest itself?

whenever the temp is above 70 degrees or on long trips this starts happening:

I was really looking forward to adding a digital mirror and turning off the one on the screen. Guess I’ll hold off on this mod for now. I really wish Tesla would have done a digital mirror with camera on top. I had one in my 24 tundra limited and loved it. Worked really well.

100% should have come from the factory with a digital mirror that could be cycled between the hitch camera and one above vault

This video makes me even more upset because the quality looks so good on the camera/mirror.

Anyone found a solution for the audio system code? I just realized the relationship to the mirror
I cut off the Tesstudio harness at the 3-wires that branch into the massive Tesstudio harness that ties into the Cybertruck's internals. This leaves a red, a yellow, and a black wire for the cable that connects power to the TesStudio rear view. I mirror-tapped the black wire to the black (ground) of the Cybertruck front camera voltage feed. The yellow wire accepts a 12-15.5 input voltage to the rear view. The red wire is intended to feed the rear view with the data status update of whether the Cybertruck is "turned on" or "turned off." No voltage input on the red wire will shut the rear view off after 5 seconds.

The Cybertruck's camera feed is 15.5 volts. It turns off when the truck is turned off except when Sentry mode is active.

I tied the red and yellow wires together and then mirror-tapped that into the front camera's voltage feed.

Before doing all this I put the TesStudio rear view on my test bench to determine its energy use. It pulled 12 volts at 11 watts when turned on. Not much. It's rated input is up to 15.5 volts, which is what the Cybertruck supplies to it's cameras.

So I went ahead and tied the TesStudio rear view into my front camera's voltage feed using the mirror-taps described above. I've had no issues, problems, or alerts.

If there are any errors or problems I'll re-route the power to possibly the OBD connector in the driver's side foot-area (pin 16), or from any USB port (maybe the glove box USB?) or the 110 volt. (but probably not the 110 volt because then I'd have to turn it on and off on the touchscreen and I'd add the complexity of an AC-DC converter).

I completed my install yesterday being extremely careful with the mirror taps.

Zero issues, alerts, or problems. I've driven it about 100 miles since my install. No alerts or issues. The rear view camera is a huge improvement. The $100,000 vehicle should have come with it to begin with or at least should have had a pre-run fiber optic or data & power at the ready. With the tailgate down, you cannot use the OEM camera. And the tiny provided glass mirror rear view just sucks. Even at 1.25 times magnification with the tailgate up, the OEM rear view just isn't good. And when you turn on your blinkers you can no longer see behind you, unless the tonneau is up and then you're using that tiny-ass little sliver of mirror that frankly is an embarassment and is difficult to see anything out of. So the digital rearview is a huge improvement. For safety's sake, I like seeing behind me when changing lanes because various a$$holes in my metropolitan Phoenix area drive WAAY over the speed limit and like to overtake other vehicles at off-ramps or other locations where lane changing is to be expected.

Now, I know that the Cybertruck CANBUSS "talks" to individual components, but here is my analysis: due to the dependency FSD has on cameras and the regular tolerances associated with (admittedly probably small) voltage/current fluctuations, the small draw by the TesStudio rear view is easily tolerated by the OEM Cybertruck's system.

Some might say that tapping the camera voltage feed violates your warranty. But as we can see, the TesStudio harness ALSO taps into the car's voltage but does so in an inelegant manner throwing up error codes. In any event, my belief is that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act helps in situations like these.

A carefully thought-out and cleanly executed mirror tap is not going to cause issues or problems.

That said, I'm getting tired of being gouged by every maker-manufacturer just because they add "Cybertruck" to the nomenclature. The below-linked rearview camera for $150 would probably work just as spiffy as the Hannshow or TesStudio versions but without trying to tap into the OEM wiring harness, and because of that it probably has a cleaner power supply installation.

Just my 2 cents.

Be well, CT enthusiasts!

First of all I definitely applaud your efforts here, but there is like no chance I could ever do this.

Would you ever do a Youtube tutorial for the rest of us mortals?

Secondly - I definitely agree that I am sick of being gouged on accessories by companies. Most rearview mirror cameras are half the price of TesStudio, Hansshow etc.

Thanks for your efforts!

I'll write up a process and post. I should have video'd or taken photos as I accomplished this. But I'll write up something that is step-by-step. Just know that anything I describe is entirely at your own risk. That said I've had zero issues or problems with my install so far.

So the way you have it wired up the mirror will power on when Sentry Mode is on as well?
