I always thought that had to do with the spot in your app that says “safety score” and they can collect data on your vin but I didn’t sign up for it. I’m sure they can raise your rate if you go over the miles you wrote down sense it’s all digitally sent . For me that part is a non factor as I have a few vehicles I split my miles up for that reason. It is nice though that you can go into the app drop your miles down and it automatically changes your rate. It’s worth a look.
You were right. It’s about $100/mo cheaper. I’ll need to see if it increases my home insurance if I “unbundle” from my current insurance.

i got tesla insurance and its awful. they charged me 350 the first month. then it went up to 390 because i drove past 10pm. i play hockey and my games are regularly after that time. i live in a rural no crime area and i have a perfect record. 49 years old. the rate is absurd. Travelers will insure me for 205 a month but im going to dig some more and try the other companies you mentioned. i also reached out to tesla insurance to ask them about my rate. couldn't get through to anyone. after an hour of holding, i chose the option to have someone call me back. no one called. wouldn't be ideal if there was an accident. then i emailed their support email with a question for underwriting to understand the "safety score". no response after 2 emails. nothing. so fuck tesla insurance. they can suck a dick. just not good. its a money grab for sure. plus any time you actually want to step on the accelerator they track it and will make sure they screw you for having any fun.

Let me ask you. In the app did you choose to let Tesla track your vin and monitor your driving ?

i cant say i remember doing that to be honest. is there a way for me to check now? also, my safety score is 91. it said that the two things counting against me were driving after 10pm and disengaging FSD.. seriously? i get dinged for disengaging the truck when i need to? come on.

Well first off because you got a rate doesn’t make it a life time rate ? things do change year to year but to double it sounds crazy to me. What your saying tells me you probably did it if they know those things. I’m not an expert or anything but I think once you accept that then you basically are giving them permission to spy on you and find stuff. I can’t be positive but it just makes sense to me. It’s in your app and says “safety score . I’ve never clicked on that and accepted it and I’ve never had a price hike or anything and I’ve had a Tesla of some sort sense 2019 always on Tesla insurance. I know it says it won’t have an impact but I’m not buying it.

Any thoughts or recommendations on the best insurance provider for a new cybertruck? Tesla insurance is ~$218 which is a bit high so wondering what other people are paying and what other companies people recommend - thanks!
I pay 163/mo (down from originally 213/mo) for 2022 model y and CyberTruck through Tesla. drive 15K per year between the two vehicles and safety score of 96-98

I went with Tesla Insurance when I got my CT, mainly because they seemed to factor in the safety features better than others. $218 isn’t great, but it was actually cheaper than what Geico and State Farm quoted me—both were $250+ for full coverage. Tesla’s real-time driving behavior factor helped keep my rate steady.
I ended up with Travelers for 210$ a month. Tesla insurance was all over the place. one month it would be 170$ then i would drive to a hockey game at 11pm and my safety score would get screwed for driving past my bed time and they would go up to mid 200s, then i took a 9 hour road trip and went to 350! screw all that variability. i dont need them monitoring me constantly.
