Did a fun project yesterday I wanted to share. Wrapped a cheap LED strip from Amazon around the stalk that holds the center screen (on the screen side) and then switched my under screen tray for one of the clear ones. Produces a pretty cool effect because of the prism characteristic of the clear plastic and allows light down into the footwells from it too.

The install took about 10 minutes and is basically invisible when off.

Mine happens to be blue in these pictures but is switchable and can be adjusted to whatever color or brightness suits your interior theme.

What do we think? Tacky? Cool? Would you do it to your truck?

I enjoy lighting mods. Have quite a few in my interior so if I turn them all on at the same time, my car looks like a trashy limo but it’s nice to have variety.

It’s just a usb a . Pulls maybe 2-3w? I have power on my dashboard that I ran a while back.
I took one of these and removed the lighter plug to accomplish that.

The little hub powers an air freshener, my AirPods and it’s where I charge accessories like the door sills , cup holder lights, and sometimes game controllers when I need to. Hypothetically it could also power something like a radar detector or go-pro, that sort of thing.
Very convenient to have power up there behind the screen.
I have since neatened the wires up quite a bit so it is almost invisible but those pics convey the concept.
Will shoot and post a couple more photos

Actually pretty useful for visualizing stuff in there during the day it turns out.
Would probably use it even if it wasn’t a clear tray.

This makes me wish there were some usb-c ports behind the screen, similar to a computer monitor setup.

I personally wouldn’t install it simply because I love the minimalist interior, but I like the lights, good work!

Thanks. I had the LED lights lying around because I used them to light up my 1st graders axolotl project.
It was over the top but he was super proud of it which is all that matters.
Anyway, when I took it apart the LED with the fancy remote became a solution without a problem . Mother of invention yada yada.

Wait, the CT has a lighter socket? Where is it, or did I misinterpret?

No. It doesn’t. I have one on a power station if I need it, but that’s not where this is powered from. It’s just a usb power source.

Did you happen to try clipping the 4 port end to the underscreen tray? Just wondering if the clip is suitable for that location...
