Completing payment after getting VIN???

I've noticed mention of completing payment after VIN before even having a delivery date.

I get you can do that but does it make sense?

I have always made final payment via plaid on delivery date, after seeing the vehicle? Can you still do this or has something changed?

I just spoke to a Tesla rep about 15 mins ago, they told me that the "final payment" is NOT an obligation for being able to go pick up your truck, just for actually taking final delivery. They prefer it for a "seamless experience", but it is not obligatory unless you choose to take delivery of the vehicle.

So, with that said... if for any reason you weren't satisfied and decided NOT to take delivery, you would get any money you did pay (with exception to the $1000) back, but you can choose to wait until after seeing the vehicle, if preferred.

She also told me "a lot of people think that they have to pay final payment right when they get VIN, but that's not obligatory."

Once I get my VIN I am just going to pay in full. So the only thing I need to think about on delivery day is enjoying the CT.
