Man buries father in brand new BMW car instead of coffin

A man laid to rest his father in a brand new BMW car instead of a coffin in Nigeria on Tuesday, Mail Online reported.

The wealthy son, Azubuike, lost his father to old age but he had always promised him that he would have a luxury car.

So, after he passed away in the remote village of Ihiala, Azubuike spent £66,000 cash on a car from the showroom to bury his father in.

A photo taken at the ceremony shows the vehicle being lowered into a huge grave dug six feet deep by hand in the village.

The picture has gone viral on social media as pall bearers reportedly guided it down logs into position and then the logs were pulled out to allow the vehicle to drop.

For a while, in the earliest deliveries, I think they will be heavily weighted towards central texas deliveries.

it's such a new and unique platform, that they'll want early deliveries kept nearby the only people in the country that know how to trouble-shoot and address

for a while, in the early deliveries
Wishful thinking? But there's no fixed rear window for a gun rack.

did they say “first retail deliveries” or something equivalent?

because “first deliveries” alone, is unindeterminate

the first first deliveries will be RC2s to insiders.

and if history prodicts future, it’ll be another 60-120 days before first retail deliveries

that said, I’m most surprised my the notion that a customer service rep on a recorded line disclosed what’s likely material non-public information
I was a teacher for 30 years. I know how to persuade.

My guess is another 60 days to the first delivery, then to configure and distribute according to region+location and profit margin. Tesla has to cook the book for Q3.

i see your point, but wouldn't they want to get other service centers on the same page as quickly as possible? I look at this as an opportunity to train them all up, with hands on examples :)

If a customer is willing to trek down to the factory for a pickup, Tesla would be a fool not to satisfy such a dedicated fan, no? Think of all the free press!
the above are certainly considerations going into the decisions. It's just that, early on in release, I think there are at least two countervailing considerations also at play:

Tesla wants to be aware of and addressing discovered issues as soon as possible (which when you think about it, is a prerequisite to the training up of others you mention), and

Second, given the visibility of this release, Tesla wants to mitigate public perception issues as expediently as possible (expected and unavoidable that some YouTuber will show a CT problem; avoidable is having that same YouTuber be able to later also complain that Tesla service center in Maine has been unable to fix expediently.)

Again, these I think are just early release considerations.

i subscribe to the idea that all press is good press. there will be issues on release, but i dont think anyone will expect tesla to be perfect when it comes to fixing the first new model they've released in 4 years. The more places this *glitch* is seen the better.

On a side note, i LOVE how polarizing the truck is! More press, and all the haters can sort themselves to the back of the line.

Day 1 - less than 30 secs. #-300, live near Giga Texas plant. Own a Tesla since 2020. Wish I was one of the first at the ceremony, But talking to an engineer at Tesla and a sales Manager, and employees and Investors getting the first ones, Also told I can change my motor choice when # comes up. I told maybe in October for mine? But not definite answers. ;(
Thats awesome! I was sitting there hitting refresh over and over trying to get my order in...I think it took 3-4 minutes to finally go live for me and I am sitting around 10,000 "ish" So the fact they got 10,000 orders in under 5 minutes was impressive. #300 is really impressive!

Either way, it will be refreshing to get input here from actual drivers and owners of the CT with
"rubber on the road" rather than some of the posts we've been entertained with for several years now about spy shots, conjecture about trunk sizes, "what if's", etc. Real Guys (and Gals) with hands on daily driving experiences.

At 67 years old, all of us "old guys" hoping to have our trucks before we're too old to enjoy them. I remember back in 2012 when I ordered my first Tesla Model S, there was a fellow 88 years old and in poor health. Tesla kindly moved him to the head of the line.

I haven't driven anything but Tesla since 2012. Thankfully I bought the stock back then. I have 2 ex wives with Teslas, my girlfriend has a Tesla, a son with a Tesla, brother, step daughter, sister, many of my friends. My short street of 2 short blocks has 5 Model 3's and 3 Model Y's on it. jeez!!! There's a lot of Tesla's in most Californian's lives.

Reservation first day, 45,000. I'll take whatever configuration comes first and gladly pick up in Texas.

I'm 71, and no where near the front of the line. I'm thinking I have too much mileage on me to make it to delivery... B-(
Nah, you can do it!
