Hi. This whole CT order has been very confusing to me. I have received a message via the app asking for insurance on the truck and registration. We all know that we can't insure a vehicle without a VIN number which I have received from Tesla. It also ask for the full payment. Does anyone know how long does the delivery takes once the truck is paid in full? And do I get a VIN number once the truck is paid?

It varies quite a bit. You can expect about 2 months from configuring to receiving your truck, plus or minus a month.
You do need proof of insurance before driving the truck away. If you're in CA, you have to wait some weird period because insurance companies are getting weird, idk much about it.

I don't know if paying for the truck in full improves your delivery time or not. I am not aware of that being a metric. But having it paid for before going to pick it up does reduce the number of things you have to iron out while you're there. Tesla likes to be as hands-off and redirect you to the app as much as possible.

No, you get a VIN number, eventually, after you pay $1000 deposit. Again I am not aware of the VIN coming sooner if it's paid for first.

All of these things must be done before delivery, true, but I have no idea how/if it impacts their timeline. They just dont want to have issues on delivery day, doing everything before-hand smooths that over for them.

Thanks for your message.

I paid the $1,000 about 7 weeks ago and I have never received a VIN number.
I've gone to Tesla a couple times but they are as clueless as I am.

My insurance company obviously told me that they couldn't insure a vehicle without a VIn number.
That is why I'm pretty confused. How can they expect us to show they proof of insurance when a VIn number was never issued??

So if I understand correctly, it could take another couple months to have the truck delivered once the truck is paid in full?

if you paid 1000 $ , you only confirmed to Tesla that you are buying a truck , which is non refundable, they are this manufacturing your truck, once you truck is manufactured and a VIN # is allocated to you by local dealer then you contact your insurance and give them VIN ...

But it is still a rip off because what happens technically (at least in Texas) , you insure your truck while its standing at dealership, then the online app gives a message you MUST have proof of insurance showing truck in insured 3 days PRIOR to delivery date ... WTF ... I pay 3 days insurance .. then they submit these docs to DMV to get us temporary license plates ... (I do get it that its the process) but from consumer stand point ... WHY should you pay 3 days in advance for insurance ... but it is what it is ...

I believe for you there is no action item UNTIL you get a VIN ... so hold on ... have some sleepless nights ... keep refreshing your app to find a VIN # magically pop on the reservation app .. have curiosity FUN :p

When I received a request for proof of insurance and final payment in the app, I was able to click into the step for the insurance and see a VIN. The app still showed my RN on the main screen, but the VIN was available on the insurance submission screen.

From the app:

Note: Final payment requirements vary based on location and purchase method. Credit cards are not accepted for final payment.

Note: Texas, New Mexico, Iowa and Michigan customers are required to submit final payment prior to scheduling their delivery appointment due to state restrictions.

In Washington State I only needed to upload a photo of my proof of insurance on my current car, not the Cybertruck.

Also, you can pay with a cashier's check when you pick up the truck.

pay the truck with a cashier's check??
done this with prior four Teslas financed through Navy Federal. They send you a blank cashiers check (approved up to a particular amount) that you fill out on delivery day.
