We took delivery of our Beast in Fife Washington on Tuesday. We spent a good long time checking the thing over looking for all the known issues. Thank you to those of you who went first and took the time to post about your experiences.
Here are some random facts, thoughts, and opinions.
  • It was delivered with the redesigned wheel covers. We took those off at the first stop and like the look of the bare wheels much better. I have lug nut covers and plugs for the hubs on the way.
  • The light bar was not delivered and neither was the storage bin for under the rear seats. The delivery tech said his understanding is that when the light bar gets installed, they will do everything but plug it in, but he wasn’t sure because he hasn’t actually seen any yet. These were some of the first wheel covers he’s seen. He said he’d delivered at least a hundred trucks without covers.
  • the panels are nicely aligned. There were a couple of sharp spots that we fixed with the diamond file on my multitool.
  • the tonneau gasket was a little rucked up in one place, but pushing it back into position seems to be all it needed. They told us to bring it back in if that turned out to be not the case.
  • It was charged to 80% when we got it
  • The tonneau does not leak at all so far. I drove it 40 minutes in fairly hard rain on Wednesday.
  • I’m not wild about the rear view. I wish that display could be larger. The useless mirror is distracting and will be coming off as soon as we figure out how.
  • The wiper seems to do the job, but it does these long pauses in the horizontal position which is kind of in the way of the road view. I’d be interested to hear from others if they experience this, or maybe this is something we should bring up with the service center.
  • I noticed that in the garage at work where sentry mode had been running, the cameras were all warm to the touch. Not sure if that’s all Teslas or not but I’ve never noticed it on our others.
  • Sad that there’s no home link for it. Back to using a garage remote like a savage.
  • Tactical grey interior. REALLY glad we got that even though it probably lengthened our wait. We just aren’t white interior people.
  • I’m happy that I won’t be hauling hay in the Model Y anymore. That’s messy.
  • This is our third Tesla. This is the most amazing thing I have ever driven. It’s hard to even express the delight right now.

My wiper acts exactly the same way. I definitely prefer it in the vertical position when not moving. Same with light at and under seat storage bins. I picked mine up almost 2 weeks ago and have been notified that Tesla is sending me a package. Hopefully it’s one of the two or both. Enjoy! ?

Too small and too dark. It's obvious the people that work on Teslas interior and UI are not drivers but rather keyboard warriors.

The wiper parks at the bottom to get water from the hood running up the windshield.

The under-seat storage is not included with the Foundation Series.

And for the garage door, try MyQ. It has more features than HomeLink and it will tell you if the door is opened or closed (if the door supports it).
As I pull away, I see it send the command to close, then closing, closing, closing, closed.

And it works from 100 miles away.

Ahh! Good news, actually. Not sure what I’d do with it. That space is for the dogs.
