My lightbar seperated on the passenger side after a few weeks. I brought it back in about a couple of months ago and they reglued it and so far it has been holding up. Not sure if they used the new glue, or not.

I'm going to attempt to install myself. I found an OEM bar on marketplace. (Maybe, I'm crazy...)

Here's my plan and products I've purchased from Amazon.
  1. 3M Adhesion Promoter 111 - https://a.co/d/g8NCm7h
    1. Only in the masked area on the glass and the bottom side of the light bar.
    2. Let it dry for 2-3 mins.
  2. 3M Heavy Duty Double Sided Tape 2''x15.4Ft, 5952 - https://a.co/d/6qjUIX1
    1. Install in small strips in the center of the light bar (left to right) this gives a way to hold the bar onto the glass while the polyurethane is curing.
  3. Polyurethane Windshield Adhesive with Fast Curing Formula - High Bond Strength - https://a.co/d/c3yl4da
    1. Planning to put a generous bead around the outer edges all the way around about 2 CM in and then several sections from top to bottom in the middle.
  4. Install the bar on the windshield and tape down with masking tape. (My son and I, this is a two person ordeal)
  5. Plan to use 4 - 25 LB bags of rice (yes, rice, this is what I have around the house, there's more than a food use) Planning to let them sit on there for 3-4 hours. It's going to be in the high 80's here and dry over the weekend.
I think and hope (fingers crossed...) this is better than what the Tesla method is for installation based on this thread and what I've seen on the FB posts. Wish me some luck... I'll try to capture and post photos and a video.

Nope I even scheduled it through the app, and it said not available yet. with everyone's falling off I'm glad I don't have it yet. It's unbelievable that they think everything can just be glued on. I'm a home builder I wonder what would happen if I took away the nails and just left silicone on the job site for the framers. Tesla we need to use fasteners if we want things to stay together
I hear you. On my personal designs I always require a mechanical fastener in addition to glue, but you do realize that the windshield on most vehicles is only held in place with glue?

There is a difference between a windshield and the light bar (In terms of adhesion); a windshield does not generally create drag or resistance outward. If you look at the lightbar from the front bottom of the windshield you can visualize how airflow hits at the point where aerodynamic drag exerts pressure on the LightBar.

Followed the process I outlined. No issues. One good thing by doing this myself there was no wire splicing. It was as simple as unplugging the feed going to the roof in the b-pillar and plugging in the bar.

Looks like a good solid install. Were you able to fill this gap between the bottom edge of the lightbar and windshield? BTW all new SC installs are completed with all the electrical connections. Just the software push when entering the truck.

I'm going to put another bead of sealant to close the gap today/tomorrow.

Posted pictures, used the process I outlined. All is good!
Super excited thank you!
Is there a recommendation for the pattern for the glue on the lightbar before placing?

I ended up going all the way around the outer edges first about 2 cm in so that when you push down on the glue will squeeze the edges. In the center all the way across the bar, I scalloped it sort of making a bunch of connected U’s.

I wanted it to cure for a couple days in the sun. Now that that’s done, I’m going to add a thin bead across the very front to ensure that there’s no gap. To do this, I’m going to Mask the the front of the bar below the light itself and put a piece of masking tape on the windshield. This way I can run a thin be to caulk smooth it out to make sure it’s perfect and peel back the tape to leave a crisp line.

brother thank you for all the help - I’m going to be doing this in the PNW so I’ll be lucky if it gets above 74* and in the sun 🤣
