One caution/ I prayed the door button off and ripped the two sided tape holding the glass door button in place. Ask a service tech to show you where you should pry to reveal the single screw holding that panel on where you make the plug connection. I tried using double sided tape to reattach the door button but finally took it to the service center and they replaced the entire panel under the warranty

Two links down from lightbar install.

As other said, the finish install (plug in) is very easy. I do use the lights on unknown dirt or fire roads I find myself on, though not often.

the front projecting lights are decent, the ditch lights … meh. It was the ditch lights I wanted most (of course). The lights are operated from the “outlets” menu which you will have to scroll down to get to - very very annoying if you need to get to them fast on a bumpy dirt road.

I haven’t had the chance to operate them in fog or rain, hope they do better than the stupid front day light bar which is blinding in the fog.

I would never have considered these lights for under 1k let alone for the price they are at in Tesla store.

if you can’t get a cash bar (unlikely) I would try sell them to someone who just must have these lights.
Thanks for this info, much appreciated and great points!

I ordered the CB FS for the many other options that were included such as PowerShare and I wanted it all yesterday, having waited five years. And IMHO it was worth the wait, it’s an amazing truck ?

Honestly, the lightbar was as exciting to me as the bottle opener. I don’t drink beer and I don’t take expensive vehicles off road at night!

While there might be an occasion or two where the LB comes in handy, living in the state of Colorado, I don’t expect it to be such that I would actually ever require one.

The reasons for me to go through with it is to complete the CB FS order in its entirety for the purposes of resale, it is free, maybe it will add to overall cool factor, it might come in handy.

The reasons for me to ditch it include it might degrade the overall look of the beast, it’s another system that can fail, it’s not something I will use, I’d be putting my Beast in the hands of a Gen Z’er ?, I can maybe sell it for a spare tire ?

I have a week to think about this and these comments are extremely helpful in coming to a decision.

Does anybody know if Voice command allows for operating the LB? As you say, having to pan through a menu to turn it on in a hurry is way less than ideal!

?

? I guess the Internet has actually become unreliable ?‍♂

I certainly would not use the light bar to be an aggressive driver, and I think that is an actual legal violation in my state
My plan is to install an Amber PPF on the lights. Better dusty road visibility and you can claim they are Roof Marker Lights to “comply” with any on road use.

Thats the thing I think Tesla did well, the lights are neither under nor overstated. To me the truck looks good with them yet doesn't seem to "miss something" if you don't have them. Many after market lights are just too prominently _there_ - though they may give out a better light beam.

You can just ask them to not install and hand you the box so you can sell online "as new". Or think about it some more and install later on. Though the latter probably you will need to do yourself or have some one pay to do for you.

Yah (sigh), wouldn't that be nice? I tried "turn light bar on", "turn flood lights on" neither worked.

Why did you need to remove anything from the B-pillar?

Thanks for info and ideas. Learning here that the amount of effort on my part to complete the insulation is minimal and that it looks perty cool has me leaning towards just going with it. But…If Tesla suggests I can get a shop credit for its value maybe I’ll see what they got.

Does anyone know if the light bar is added to the light show once it’s there? That would be cool AF ?

The updated install procedure requires the owner to mate two connectors in the B Pillar instead of soldering wires on the roof.

Yes it’s added to some of the light shows only one has been developed by Tesla since the light bar came out. And that one incorporates the light bar. Cyber Symphony, I believe.

Tesla is not gonna give you a credit for the light bar again there is no market for them they don’t sell them to anyone and aren’t ever supposed to. It comes with the Foundation Series Cyberbeast and that’s all there is to it. People keep wishing it to be otherwise, but it’s not.

Please report back what you find out, after you ask the question so we can put an end this ongoing misapprehension/debate. Shouldn’t be, the promotional materials on this have been very explicit. The OEM light bar is an FS/CB exclusive.

No debate here, just questions and good to know it’s lightbar or no lightbar, period.

I’ll ask Tesla directly for a confirmation but it makes sense. And interesting that the LB is apparently not available for non FS CTs. This should add value to the FS IMO.

The fact that the LB is supported in a light show cements my opinion to just do it. Thanks for that info. Seems kids love the light show and I love showing it off!

New lightbars come with connector, older ones eith bare leads should get soldered by service center (used to be DIY). Step 22 is where it branches.

oh wow, I'm glad I have the older method available haha!

We seem to have confirmation now that it will work with other vehicles besides just the FS/CB so you should be in great shape! Please keep us posted!

my light bar ditched itself
I have to give the lightbar a thumbs down.

Did SC let it cure long enough? When they did mine, the tech asked me to leave the truck as long as I could so they could let it sit with sand bags on to hold it down and let it cure. I just picked it up at the end of the day (approx 7hr after finish). Haven't had any mechanical issues with it.

But, that said, this light bar is more looks than performance. It's a pity Tesla did not engineer this to function better and also interface (dashboard software) better. If mine ever comes off, I'll chuck it in the bin and thats that.
