Just received an email from Tesla to schedule my light bar install. However, I’m hesitant after reading about several flying off. Has the new install process resolved this issue?

I may just sell it. I have had my truck for 13 months now and not a single issue. Kind of want to keep it that way.

For those that have had the light bar installed with the new adhesive what has been your experience? Any of them come loose or worse fly off?

I had mine x 10 months
Installed by Tesla

I just did a 15000 round trip from Toronto to Santa Monica via Vegas
No issues
It is very useful and looks good

only issue
Don’t go into car wash
It will fog up

I sealed mine with clear silicone

all good

I was one of the first here to have it installed, coming up on a year ago. It’s never flown off. It did start lifting at one end after about five months or so, which I observed and went back and had it repaired/re-glued. This was before any change in procedure in terms of funding agent or anything so installation process 1.0.

Let’s call at 8000 miles worth of travel since then. Just returned from a 600 mile round-trip to SoCal through temperature drops, pouring rain, and howling wind traveling as fast as 85 miles an hour. My light bar is as solid as a rock.

Get the damn thing installed, be reasonable and responsible! Check it occasionally (since you know that it’s a real thing that people are losing them), let it cure maybe be an extra day after you get it and you’ll be fine.

Where did you apply sealant? I have been using a manual car wash since I got it but it is a bug murderer...
