The BEV pickup truck wars is really going to heat up next year. It appears that the Cybertruck will have 6 competitors duking it out in 2021;

GMC Hummer EV SUT. The public debut is coming this fall

The Bollinger was made for me but not my wallet... if they reduced the price to that of the Cybertruck, I would've gone with that.

That list above should just be empty.
I've got to agree with this guy. Most of these trucks are concept designs that haven't been made yet and we have no idea when production will start or if it will. That's like saying that boeing is a competitior for Spacex trips to mars.

Also for the trucks that have a prototype or something that can be shown like Bollinger B2 and Rivian R1T, you have to look at how much competition are they.

The Bollinger B2 is 125,000 and is, as far as i know, analog entirely. I've seen some people call it a handyman vehicle, but I don't know any handymen that are putting 125,000 on a truck that's so plain. It'll get some buyers but probably on a much smaller scale.

The Rivian R1T is probably the biggest competitor but I don't think it's going to be targeting the same demographics as the cybertruck for a couple of reasons.
1. The Cybertrucks design is something people love or hate, there isn't a ton of middleground. This could easily be a deciding factor between the two trucks, without people really comparing them.
2. The Rivian has the storage compartment behind the back seats that goes all the way through. I thought that design was pretty cool but I, as well as every truck guy i know, would much rather you put that space to a longer bed insead of just a place to put some bags or equipment. I do however know some people who want to buy one and they are like mountain climbers, campers, people that would have lots of equipment that do not need a 6.5ft bed.

I also want to touch on the topic of the Nikola Badger because I just don't think this is really going to happen and if it does, it's not going to be very optimal.

First of all, it's not a real truck yet, all images are rendered and it's still a very new concept. Nikola admitted that the Cybertruck itself has convinced them to build an electric truck and they are making a lot claims about a truck that I find it hard to believe they could know without having much reference at all.

Next we have their Hydrogen Fuel Cells. This is a huge selling point of the truck and i've seen a lot of people really looking forward to this feature because it can apparently (according to Nikola) extend the range beyond that of the Cybertruck and fill up much faster. The problem with this so far is I've looked at where Hydrogen fuel stations are located and if you don't live next to one, this isn't a feature you can use and if you go on a road trip, you'll probably just use the electric battery.
Now Nikola does have a plan to build a lot of Hydrogen fuel stations for their Semi's as you can see on the map on their website, but they don't tell you that none of those have been built. they have one for demonstration and they only have plans to build 1 more so far and that's for testing. Their goal is for 700 built in North America, Even if they complete all of those, they are truck stop size and probably not immediately next to a city. So if you will have to take trips to fill up the non electric battery.

This really looks bad when looking at Nikola next to Tesla, where the battery of the tri motor Cybertruck is almost at the same range, batteries are quickly improving, and you can charge up at any of thousands of superchargers, or at home, or at work, or at a friends house...for cheaper.

It will be fun to see what happens. Nobody has a truck in the market yet. All of these are just concepts and prototypes. Many will never be built. Will the CT beat them to the market? Nobody knows that either. When the CT does come out in 2023 I hope it’s good and ready to go

Bollinger looks like an old Paddy wagon with a bed. It is as unimaginative as can be. When I look at the Hummer I think "Boring."

The Badger has the most flair of the bunch, but it is not CT. Of course one of my friend's called it (CT) ugly. Unconventional is ugly, from a certain point. I am unconventional, but with style.

The Rivian looks nice and has the side compartment. Overall I cannot see many but the uber wealthy buying them.

Holy crap, that's a lot of boring! You'd think at least one of those companies could come up with something slightly interesting looking.

Must admit, part of my Cybertruck love is that it looks remarkable similar to a vehicle I designed in junior high school. Yes, all those memes about 7 year old Elon designing a vehicle are not too far from the truth. LOL. My atomic-powered snowplow was both electric and ahead of its time. Though my range was nearly unlimited, that whole radiation shielding thing made it just a tad bit heavy.

My version of the 7 year old drawing was powered by eternally fighting ninjas, and looked like a samurai sword with wheels, at least I had the sharp nose point correct.
Later it became trash powered cars.

I think rivian and ford would be the best bet for a real competitor. But they are at least a couple years after CT's rolling out. But even then. They will be over 60k, so a no go for me.

It's funny how when we grow up defines (ok "defines" is too strong a word but you get it) our creativity.

I think the only REAL competition will be between the Tri Motor Cybertruck and the 1,000 HP 2022 GMC Hummer EV SUT. Both should be priced around $70k before options and will be popping off assembly lines in Q4 of 2021. I think serious BEV pickup truck buyers will be cross shopping between both of them.

Personally, I love the design and simplicity of the Bollinger but it's too expensive and has too little range for towing. I've been following it's development since the early days, but now that the Cybertruck exists it wins out for me. I would still get a Bollinger for my dad (who is older and would not want high tech screens and things) if I were rich.

Rivian is nice and would meet all my needs, but I don't like the look of the headlights and it's still too expensive. I do believe that they will succeed in producing their vehicles.

Ford and GM, we will see. We don't know a lot about their vehicles yet.

I think when the Long Way Up gets released and people see the Rivian in action, I think it will lock it in for more people... And that trip should have given Rivian a wealth of data on designing a true adventure vehicle.

If Ford wants the EV-150 to succeed, it will. If they hold back to not compete with the F-150, they will have screwed themselves.
