What $$ they selling it for?
Yeah I’m not sure. My guess is a lot. Maybe even a private auction. You know where they also sell government secrets and weaponized dinosaurs or whatever

If you sell you CT to an overseas buyer the title will not be changed in the USA. That said, the CT will show up as bing somewhere else in the world.

And you can sell a vehicle in the USA and not change the title for a while.

My cousin bought a Jeep from a guy who had bougt it from his neighbor 20 years ago. He never changed the title and didn't write his name in as buyer. Cousin wrote his name in as buyer and changed title. He had to pay a fine! $10.

If I had more than one reservation, I would sell one. But I really want a CT. It is what we need.

But I am not getting the Foundation Series. I will wait for the regular order.

Hey everyone I know this is a hot button subject but I thought I’d post since it could end up benefiting one of us with deeper pockets.

A client of mine is an exotic car broker and we got to talking Tesla and he said he will have a Foundation Series Dual Motor soon for sale. I would expect a $30k to $40k markup since this guy deals mostly with car collectors from around world. So there’s a good chance this ends up in someone’s car locker or flys out overseas. Or it could end up in your garage haha.

I asked him about the no resale clause and he said that’s really more to keep folks from selling them on public auction sites than anything else and that they have legitimate ways of getting around the paperwork so both parties are protected. He said he sold 3 of the last Ferraris and a couple other cars that had the same sort of clause.

Anyways reach out to me if you are interested and I can put you in touch.

I’m not here to debate the morality of this. I would just say that if you think wealthy people have to play by the same rules as everyone else I would simply point you to the argument that infractions and the monetary penalties associated with them should be scaled based on income. Or in other words parking laws and ticket fees mean far less to the person in the Lamborghini than they do to the person in the Corolla Sport. You can extrapolate from there.
And you know that as soon as the VIN pops up on Tesla software at a different owner, the lawsuit clause kicks in right?

Same. I got the foundation invite but am just holding out until the dual motor gets the regular pricing. Was really tempted to get the foundation but can’t justify the huge price leap. Now at least I feel a little better waiting since hopefully they will update the software to improve the charging curve and depending on how long it takes maybe even see a better battery chemistry introduced in that time

So who's your guy?

He was lucky that the vehicle was never in an accident or impounded. As a seller, I want that car off my books ASAP. I don't want the liability. If my buyer is in an accident where they kill someone, guess who gets hauled in.

Again I don’t really know much about it, but I do know he is doing well based on the 3 garages we have done security and surveillance for haha. But yeah he mentioned it all depends on the way it is written. So they have done like a trust with a holdings, created an LLC that both parties join and done a lease with an up front lump sum and a small exchange after the terms have been exceeded. Interesting stuff. I’d like to see how it shakes out. I’ll report back if I talk to him again and see what they did.
No matter how you do it, others who want one get shafted.

And "he doesn't want them on public auction sites"? Sure, he doesn't get any money from it.

I’m not sure you understand. I was saying Tesla and the other car companies who write in these no resale clauses do it so that they don’t end up on car auction sites or other public facing sales. These brokers have always been around and always able to get someone who has enough money whatever they want within the letter of the law. You think Farrell was clicking the reservation button during the Cybertruck unveiling haha? Probably not right?

I absolutely understand what you are saying, you just said it better. The brokers are into it for people with really deep pockets (and more commission for the broker) to buy something and make a lot of money off of it.

I will absolutely guarantee you that Tesla doesn't care if they are resold by a broker or an auction site. The end product is someone got a car and didn't go through the reservation process and cut in front of a million people.

It's like the dealers who create obnoxious markups on some new cars. No one is happy about it.

Tesla wants the car to go to the fans who went through the effort. Farrell could easily have one of his people pushing the button during the unveiling.

But it is pretty obvious that Farell is borrowing a VIP or employee car.

And yes, Farrell getting/borrowing one because he has money does make the queue of people mad. It's a "some people are above the rules" thing.

Exotic, for now.

This purchase makes no sense in so many ways.

I wag my finger.
