Thank you sir been waiting for this since abstract ocean pulled theirs from the store. I’m sorry they didn’t get it worked out first but the ship has sailed. I got four of these and four of the OEM ones. Graffiti on the front door; silhouettes on the back.

Plus spares.
You are welcome. I ordered 4 as well. I will still get 4 from Abstract Ocean if they finally get them working because they will have them in green.

I just tried to install mine. The driver door light has absolutely no slack on the wires. I’m going to have to take the whole door panel off to install.

The existing holes are too small for the new lights. Does anyone else have this issue? I’m going to have to take a Dremel to them and make the holes larger.

The originals are in there so tight, I broke my pry tool trying to remove them.

Also, does anyone know why they say to lower the window before doing this install? I lowered and raised and it made no difference..

I received mine today as well. I had a similar challenge with limited slack in the harness and the holes being a bit too small for the new housing. That said it wasn't too difficult to release the old light and get the new one in there with a bit of persuasion. Not sure it'll ever be easy to remove later and hope it never has to be.

Yeah I heard the new ones were a tight fit, but there’s no way these can fit without making the hole wider. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

So two things from my installation.

1. I didn’t need any slack because I didn’t pull the wires out at all I just attached the like to wherever it ended and then pushed them up back inside.

I put my truck into extract mode and laid down under the door so that I could see everything and that worked best.

2. The first guy to get them and post about installation clearly stated that they are challenging to get in. That was my experience as well but in no way should you need to Dremel out the hole and I would highly advise against that because if you ever wanna go back to stock then they won’t fit.

The lights do not point directly down they are angled and you have to match that angle which is what makes putting the bigger logo lights in. You have to slide the backend in first and it does require a bit of finessing to line it up after which you then have to manhandle it it requires quite a bit of force to get it in. More than I was expecting. More than any puddle light installation ever on a Tesla for me.

Yeah I’ve been thinking more about how maybe I needed to finesse it more, and I was aware of the angle, but the new lights are taller so I just couldn’t get it to fit. I’ll take another look tomorrow. As far as wire slack though, I can’t even reach the release clip, that’s how little give the wire has.

I also found them to be an extremely tight fit.
What worked for me was to get them in as much as I could and then move to the next door. None of them installed the first go, but each ending up sitting 80% of the way in for about 15 mins. On the second pass was able to get two snapped in and repositioned the other two. Final two went in on the third go. Frustrating for sure, but it seems like letting them sit mostly installed helped open things up enough to get them in. no dremel, but a lot more force than I used to install puddle light projectors in my Y the week before.

I’m wondering if it’s because its pretty cold here… the plastic may shrink down in the cold and be less flexible… maybe if I leave the new lights in the truck overnight so they get to the same temperature as the truck, maybe that would help?

But even the stock lights are so tight, opening the hole a little with a dremel could help as long as I only do the sides and not the top or bottom. The stock lights are so tight, I broke my pry tool trying to get them out.

Don’t take the cards off….AO has wire extensions; look at their website.

Don’t dremel. They will fit, it just takes a bit finesse and force, haha!!

AO has these pigtail extensions for the short wires.
