Nice rack ! Is it S.S. ? Does the cover close ?
The rack is thick, aluminum. Yes, the cover can close, the rack is mounted outboard of the tonneau. It's pretty important for most contractors to be able to lock up their tools.

Glad to see someone using the truck as a work truck and pushing the limits.
I didn't grab a picture but I loaded the bed with about 2,000lbs of tile this weekend and forgot about the auto leveling. While talking to the tile employees about the truck because they were admiring it after loading the bed the truck auto leveled for us. Everyone was shocked :) While driving the truck didn't feel any different. If I didn't actually see the tiles loaded I would never have known the bed had so much weight in it.

I've been over-loading trucks my whole life. Always make sure the tires are well aired up, If I was going any distance I would have put 65 psi in the rear tires and made sure the front were over 50 psi.

The official bed capacity is 1800 or 1850 lbs. (I forget exactly). To reach 2500 lbs. without exceeding the published recommended limits, you need 440 lbs. in the frunk and a cabin with significant weight in there (people or cargo). The official bed capacity is NOT 2500 lbs. Cargo capacity on all light trucks includes fuel, the driver and, in all cases I'm aware of, the weight must be distributed somewhat throughout the loadable areas of the truck. And it is almost always quite conservative.

It looks like he had over 5000 lbs. extra on the rear axle. I probably wouldn't do that except on low speed, smooth roads, but it can handle it if you don't hit any bumps too big while going too fast. Of course both are subjective from the driver's perspective. What bump is too big and what is too fast? That's why I wouldn't do it, because shit happens! I would overload it, just not quite that severely. Still, I'm glad there are people out there testing the limits!

He could have reduced the chance of bad things happening by putting 4 or 5 bags in the frunk, they would have fit just fine (but he probably had other stuff up there, LOL). A super cautious person would have loaded some of it on the floor in the back seat area. A truck is a lot less likely to fail with the load being well distributed. My F-150's hood would have been pointed to the sky with that load in there, even if I put a good amount in the cab, behind the front seats.

Of course, this is all fake because everyone knows the Cybertruck simply can't do real work. :ROFLMAO:
This reminds me of when I first bought my other truck, a '06 Dodge RAM MegaCab 1500 (gas). I put two pallets of 80lb concrete bags in the truck, bed and cab floor. Then towed around 18k of other construction crap with a heavy trailer, about 200 miles.

THAT was overloaded :) Now I only tow about 20k of water + trailer every few months for my cisterns... yeah not better...

I'm really hoping the CT is just as under rated. I'm scared to even TRY my water trailer with it!

When I was loading these rounds of wet firewood, the suspension auto-leveled after each round or two was put on the tailgate. There are 21 rounds in there! This is in the lowest (Entry) suspension setting. As soon as I put it into drive the front and back raised up to normal driving ride height :

It rode and drove so well down the rugged and steep road out of the mountains that I didn't want to stop experiencing it. So I drove it up a very steep and twisty little used single lane road just for a pleasure/test drive! I drove it at the same speed I drive it unloaded and it cornered so well the rounds didn't even shift and it went up the super steep grade that drew me to that road like it was flat! It didn't even feel like I had a big load!

In my F-150, I always limped a heavy load like this straight back home at low speeds hoping nothing broke. It was only rated for 1750 lbs. and the hood would always be pointed towards the sky. The front end would feel light and the engine would struggle on uphill grades. The Cybertruck drove like it was meant to carry more! This load is right about at the rated limit of 2500 lbs. but it's over the rear axle rating of ~1800 lbs.

That's amazing! Its a truck, lets use it like a truck! I'm still shocked Tesla made this that we can throw stuff in and then 30 minutes later(or during) still win stop light to stop light racing :) Although we don't do that, but we know we could. Still fun to give it a push and feel that acceleration. Helps our rounded shoulders get pushed back into position!

im counting at least 6 bags per level x 7 levels high 42 x 90# per bag. 3780#Add in the 200# for the rack and lumber. Plus the driver 4200-4300# total payload.

Sure, it definitely exceeds the 2,500# payload capacity but people do that kind of thing all the time. The question really should be did it work w/o damaging the truck. Being able to haul a pallet of concrete would be impressive.

I see 48 bags (all the lower levels have 7 bags per layer) x 90 lbs./bag.
I think the rack is 220 lbs. with 20 lbs for lumber.
Driver 175 lbs.
I see there was a cameraman at Home Depot and I assume he rode in the same truck so I'll guess 150 lbs.
Pallet 45 lbs.

Without any other tools or gear in the vault basement, frunk or cabin, that comes out to 4,930 lbs.

So I'm guessing it would be pushing very close to 5K lbs total and probably nearly 4,600 payload on the rear axle.

That's double it rated total payload and over 2.5 times it's rear axle payload rating. I've over-loaded ICE trucks that had lower payload ratings to the same relative percentage of their ratings and nothing broke, but the driving dynamics sucked. I wouldn't want to drive highways speeds or corner or brake normally because the load has such a detrimental effect on the driving characteristics.
