Only put things on your dash that you are willing to eat in the event of a crash.

I'm sorry but this concern is unfounded. This device is on the other side of the airbag, the odds of it making contact with the driver on impact are close to 0. It may bounce around after the impact and hit the driver, but that applies to all objects inside the cabin that are not tied down.

In the event of a forward collision this tablet's first priority is going to be to try and exit the CT through the front windshield, though it will likely fail.

That phone holder is very nice. It rotates and pivots in any direction you would want. With the included magnets its actually difficult to remove the tablet because the hold is so strong. Its also very cheap at $12. I highly recommend it.

When/if you remove it you would only need to peel off the adhesive from the plastic trim its stuck to.
Is it one of these adhesive peel and stick on a smooth surface?

Don't let everyone rain on your parade. This is no more dangerous than a Model S with the nav on the main screen. It's only dangerous if you use it poorly! To many people in the world want to try to save you from yourself! Use it responsibly and you are fine. Well done sir.
I would think it could create liability issues putting you at a disadvantage if you are involved in an accident.

What liability? They would have the responsibility to prove you were doing something other than navigation display.

What state is it illegal to mount navigation to your dash?

-Crissa
It's illegal to be using a phone or tablet while driving in many states. Inattentive bad drivers made that happen. Increased accidents was the legitimate reason, but I strongly believe it was pissing off so many many other drivers that cost them political support.

It's illegal to use a handheld device.

This is mounted on the dashboard.

If you have a citation, please provide. I can't know everything, and things change all the time, hence asking.

No they wouldn't.
That is not how liability works.

A tablet can fall under the exceptions using the law you attached.

(b) Subdivision (a) does not apply to the following equipment when installed in a vehicle:
(1) A vehicle information display.
(2) A global positioning display.
(3) A mapping display.
So do not watch videos on it. Seems like common sense. Also make sure you do not go even 1mph over the posted speed limit, I believe that is also illegal.

Nope it can't. A mapping display is use specific device, as is GPS Display or instrument display

A tablet woudl be a visual display device and would require an interlock.

A television receiver, video monitor, television or video screen, or any other similar means of visually displaying a television broadcast or video signal, if that equipment satisfies one of the following requirements:(A) The equipment has an interlock device that, when the motor vehicle is driven, disables the equipment for all uses except as a visual display as described in paragraphs (1) to (4), inclusive.(B) The equipment is designed, operated, and configured in a manner that prevents the driver of the motor vehicle from viewing the television broadcast or video signal while operating the vehicle in a safe and reasonable manner.

If your brain can handle it, more power to you. For me, the screen is way too intrusive and distracting into the field of vision. It's like a giant heads-up display without the transparent see-through quality of one. The constant vision focus to go in and out from this to windshield will probably strain the eyes as well. From your picture, it looks to be right at the edge of lower windshield.
If it doesn't work for you I get it, do what works for you.

Its placement is exactly where 99% of cars on the road have their instrument panel. I do not think there has been a lot of discussion of the dangers of instrument panels. It is not blocking the view of the road at all, 100% of the tablet is under the line of sight of the windshield.
